The benefits to using Cafepress is that we can put multiple designs up, and then people could get the design they want. We could also get stuff like coffee mugs and mousepads, if people aren't the t-shirt type.
The drawbacks are that it might be more expensive going through Cafepress than using a local merchant.
I'll go research costs and stuff. And if we decide to go with Cafepress, then I volunteer to set up the store. Doing online stuff is easier for me than calling places and whatnot.

Cafepress does have some cool stuff... my place would be way cheaper. I am expecting the shirts to be about $10, I haven't gotten a quote yet because it depends on things like if we get long, short, or 3/4 sleeves, girl tees or "normal" tees, and color... light printing on dark shirts is more expensive, because they usually have to double process it.
I love the new art... please, carry on the discussion, and I'll get a quote early next week with what seems to be the consensus, and we can decide if we want to go with that or Cafepress, or both, if some people really need thongs.
imogen, of course I'll ship to Australia!
What I'm thinking now is the Kiss Me in girl tees, which usually only come short sleeved, and the KamaCon in long & short sleeved options. 3/4 length if I can get it, 'cause that's my fav.
Edit: I won't be around anymore tonight or at all tomorrow, pretty much. I'll catch up on the thread Friday, before going dress shopping with my lovely sister.

But I want girl-shaped Taal's Kama Con!

I'm very fond of Taal's KamaCon shirt. I know light on dark is more expensive, but a nice dark blue t-shirt with the white design on it would be awsome. A long sleeved version would be even better, but I have a feeling I'm the only person who thinks that.

Actually, celia, I agree with you 100%. I also prefer the light-on-dark, and long sleeves (3/4 length are the minimum, for me -- longer is great).

Yeah, my mom has that problem. She has to buy tall-sized shirts, or the cuffs end up in odd places. I prefer long sleeves, but can get away with 3/4 length.
At least, that's what I tell myself.

hmm...Let's see what ElJay comes up with, and maybe there's something we could do to fill in the vaccuum if one is apparent.

Either way, whenever the decision is made, I can provide you with a higher-res version of the image if needs be.

Of course you can, Kama! Turtle will print anything we ask him to, it's just if we're printing smaller numbers of more versions it costs more. But he's a no-minimum shop, so that's not problem.

I still haven't heard any thoughts on colors for the Kiss Me shirt. KamaCon looks pretty set white print on navy, especially with the cool new design. He does have baby tees with contrast raglan sleeves, although the sleeves are pretty little. So we could get Kiss Me in, say, white with aqua sleeves and aqua printing. Or light blue with navy sleeves and print, or, heaven forbid, pink with dark pink/maroonish sleeves and print.
Also, do we want the Hatrack URL on the shirts anywhere? It could be added little along the bottom of the design, or we could have it on the back of the shirt.
For a price idea... I've got the pre-printing costs now, there would be a screen fee for each design that will be spread out over however many people order and the printing fee for each shirt, but those aren't going to come out to much.
A basic, ladies' 100% cotton short sleeved tee is $3.96 for S - XL and $5.78 for 2XL. That is "fashion cut for ladies," it is not a baby-tee. A short-sleeved ribbed tee, which has a closer fit, but still isn't a baby-tee, is $7.38 pre-printing S - XL. The contrast sleeve mention above is $8.40, and a 3/4 length contrast baseball sleeve in heather gray with navy sleeves (really cute!) is $11.56.
There isn't a cheap long-sleeved ladies option, the lowest price is $9.88 for a ribbed, 100% cotton shirt with "fashion silhouette." If the women who want long sleeved don't care about girl cut, the boy's long sleeved 100% cotton start at $5.98 for S - XL, $8.00 2XL.
Basic boy's heavyweight cotton short-sleeved tees start at $3.40 for S - XL, $5.34 for 2XL and 3XL. If any of the guys out there want a muscle shirt or ribbed tank, they can be had for $7.78 or $8.60, respectively.
What I'm waiting on is to find out if we can all order the style of shirt we want and pay one set-up fee. Then if we all get them the same color, we can get long and short sleeved men's and women's shirts, and the people who want a cheap option can pay probably five bucks, and those who want something snazzier may go up to $15, but we'll all still look like a crowd storming around Chicago. I, personally, will be the one out jogging in the morning in my spiffy navy KamaCon sports bra.

We're talking about Taal's latest design for KamaCon, white on navy, and Kama's original design for Kiss Me I'm a Jatraquera, color as of yet unknown. I think there was enough interest in each to get both.
I am willing to take orders and get the shirts, and bring them to Chicago for those who will be there or ship them wherever for cost of shipping for those who will not be in Chicago, or just want their shirts early. If I'm shipping, I will request a check be sent to me in advance. Otherwise, I will take payment on delivery in Chicago.
Note: I'm still fine with going with CafePress if that's how others want to do it. It has the advantage of everyone just ordering what they want and having it shipped straight to them. The only disadvantage is price.

I like this option. The only fear is that people will not order one, come to the Con, and then want one. We'll just have to advertise well in advance.
ElJay, you're a princess for doing this. It sounds great.
Is there just one set up fee per design? Because I have to admit I would like a JatraCon one as well. With the tag line of "Like your real friends. Only smarter." on it. Could that be possible?

Yeah, dkw told me about the URL this afternoon. Understandable.
Katharina, I was thinking about the problem of people not ordering shirts and then seething with jealousy when they see how cool we all are in ours. I do plan on advertising well, as well as trying to connect with each confirmed attendee if they don't order one. (You're sure you don't want a shirt? Okay, then don't come crying to me...) But I'll probably spring for a few extras, just in case.
Anything could be possible. But I don't know about the one-set-up fee or not yet, I just e-mailed the question this morning and since it's the weekend I don't expect to hear back until Monday. From places I've ordered from before, a screen set-up fee has been about $20... so spread out over 20 shirts, it adds a buck a shirt, or it turns one $4 shirt into a $24 shirt. All depends on how much you want it, and if other people want it too.
Finally, how do people feel about this: I'd like to add 50 cents to the price of each shirt and give Taal a free one for doing the design and Kama a free one for doing the Kiss Me design and 'cause it's her party. If I hear no objections, I'll consider it good. (If I hear objections, I'll have a two-tiered price structure and do it anyway.)

I enthusiastically agree!
I'm not a big fan of ribbed, so I'll tentatively go with a 2XL "boy" T (white on navy, Taal's KamaCon design). Unless the baseball-sleeve ones also come in navy (body, not sleeves)? (I'm assuming the one-set-up-fee gets a yes.)
Oh, and ditto what Farmgirl said! Great job, ElJay! *applauds*

$24 seems pretty pricey for a T-shirt. But maybe the price would go down if more people order?

Ela, yes... $24 was for if we're ordering KamaCon shirts and Katharina wants a JatraCon one as well, with a different tagline, and is the only one who wants it. There's usually one set-up fee for the screen printing, and then the cost of the shirt itself. So if they're only making one shirt, that person has to pay the whole set-up fee, but if they're making 10, it gets split among those 10 people. Since I'm anticipating about 30 orders for the KamaCon shirt, it'll add less than a buck to each shirt (if I'm right about the amount of the fee) and they'll end up being about $5 for a basic short-sleeved t-shirt.

I've got prices quotes, I'm putting all the options together and will start a new thread in the next couple of days.
Taalcon, did you see katharina's request for your JatraCon design with a changed tagline to Like Your Real Friends. Only Smarter.?" Are you willing to make that mod for us? Also, can you send me the images in ESP format? That's what the shirt guy requested... and I hearby admit I don't know what it means. And I didn't ask, but I think it would make sense to send it as a black image on white background, if you don't mind. The shirts will be white on navy, of course.
Kama, can you also send me your Kiss Me design black on white, as an ESP file? If you can't do the format, send it to me however you can and I'll get it modded. Nobody has expressed a color preference for this shirt, so I don't know if y'all still want it, but I found something I think it'll look really cute on so I'm going to throw it out there and see if anyone bites.

I missed this...as one that isn't going to Kamacon...are you taking orders on the site or just from the people that are going? I might want one of the Kiss me designs too...

Hey. Just wanted to drop in the thread and say that I agree that Eljay's place sounds the best option, both for price reasons and because we can get colored shirts. Cafepress only does white and ash gray.
But if anyone really has their heart set on getting a Kamacon thong, I'll still happily set up the site.
