My name is pronounced eh-pic-tee-tus. At least that's how my philosophy teacher pronounced it. From what little I know about pronouncing Latin, it could also be pronounced Eh-peek-TAE-toos (tus)(capital letters indicate guessed emphasis.)
You can still avoid pronouncing my name in your heads if it's still confusing.
Any stoic philosophers out there or anyone who speaks Latin feel free to correct me. I'd love to know how to pronounce my name too.

You know, if we could encourage new members to adopt for their usernames articles, verbs, prepositions, adjectives, and adverbs, then eventually we could have game threads where we can make up entire sentences like "The quidscribis jumped over the Black Fox" by using Hatrack usernames.
So come on, new members! If you grab such popular words as "the," "and," "said," and "onanism," you'll get to see your name all the time!

BTW, my "real" name is Anne, but I find it too short, and since every anglophone I know call me Anna, I love Anna. EDIT : derail :

Actually, I find it annoying to find my name all the time, because when I'm searching for a thread and type "Anna" I have like a zillion thread with "Do you wanna" or similar.

I wonder, am I in the same catergory as Telperion the Silver and Eruve Nandiriel? If so, what catergory am I?

Names-that-make-you-laugh should be amother category. Like "Wowbagger the Infinately Prolonged". In the middle of the day I'll randomly think of it, and start laughing to myself. (Maybe this should have been posted in the "You know you've had too much Hatrack when..." thread. )

I never did read that "is my screen name too fanboyish?" thread. But I think "characters or made up words from a OSC book" counts. Though I found the phrase "mother tree" in the Book of Mormon the other day. Also, "pooka" was a dead pet name.

I suppose mine would fall under names that are not the member's own, as well as names referencing musical groups.
