theresa, have you checked out Nymbler when thinking of middle names (or other girls' names)? Some suggestions from Nymbler based on your choices of first names:

Carolina
Cora
Katharina
Amelia
Hazel
Victoria
Isabela
Lyla
Abagail
Ivy
Elanor
Rose
Sadie
Nora

Any of those sound attractive? Play around with Nymbler and you might find some others you like. [Smile]

I gave it a try and it was quite fun. Lots of the names it suggested were ones that we have considered. I really like Abigail and Nora. I think my problem with middle names is more that I have too many first name possibilities to really spend enough time with any one of them to try out middle names with. At least if its a boy, naming him will be easier [Smile]

Mrs. M's link is pretty awesome. The bit with Thazel is spectacular.

We've got a Drake Alexander now.

We may soon be working on #2...if it's a girl, it's Celeste (but no middle name yet).

Boys:

Arthur (after king Arthur)
Marcus
Henry (family name...2 grandfathers)

Yeah, Mrs M, great link. I spent about an hour last night with my fiance and a friend going through the articles and laughing (and arguing about baby names, and whether or not naming a son "Zoey" will damage him - my friend wants to do this - and whether or not giving a baby a classical literary name will damage him because it will make people feel stupid if you name your baby "Isolde" or "Bodicea").

Fiance and I did argue our way into some potential boy baby names, completely unnecessarily (hopefully for a while) - Conner and Kyle. Good Irish names to go with their beautiful last name (mine in three weeks!). [Smile]

I have a girl name all picked out.

Elizabeth Janeen, and we'll call her Liza Jane.

1. My grandmother's given name was Betty Jean.
2. My mother's name was Janeen.
3. My name is Katharine - also the name of a queen - but I go by the shorter version.
4. My middle name is Jane.

Really, her name couldn't be anything else. I also love it because it's both elegant and dignified and, with the Liza Jane nickname, Texan and homey at the same time.

My daughter-in-law has declined to give me a vote. So, I had to use my names for my two new cats. Popocatepetl for the boy and Ixtaccihuatl for the girl. They are trying their best to live up to their names. I always thought these would be great names for boy and girl twins.

Could she just be Liza if she wanted, and not have the double first name?

If I have kids with the lady I'm with now the girl's name is already decided upon. I really had no choice in the matter.

Mackayan Nazareno Vonk

That's my lady's mom's last name and her last name, and my last name, obviously. I'd call her Mac. I always like girls with boy names.

As for boys names, I've thought of Lawrence, 'cause it's my dad's name, but I don't want to do that to a kid. Maybe Joshua or Caleb. My favorite all time name is Kilgore, but I don't think I could convince anyone to name their child that.

For a girl (which I personally would rather have), I like

Barbara
Beverly
Bryna
Carla
Gertrude
Susan

names that (to me at least) sound both strong and musical.
