I dunno, fantasy nominally, but I don't like much of the fantasy I've read in recent years, and the Science Fiction has been better. All my novel ideas are fantasy, however.

I'm a total sci-fi gal. Although I do read fantasy as well. It's jus that sci fi is hard wired into me. And that includes all my novel ideas, too.

Fantasy has swords and dragons sometimes. Sci Fi is mostly spaceships. Swords and dragons are cooler than spaceships I think... But, hybrids are always cool too. So it's hard to decide.

I'm not too particular about the genre as long as I find it well written. My two favorite books are China Mountain Zhang, which would fall onto the SF side of things, and A Song of Ice and Fire (yes, I know, I'm stretching things more than a bit by considering that one book, and I'm essentially saying that I've only read half of one of my two favorite books, but what can you do), which would fall onto the fantasy side.

Although I read pretty much everything - except erotica or anything closely resembling that, or westerns.
But I like historical, fantasty, mystery, adventure, and, oh my goodness, I can't think what else. I'm a voracious reader, and sometimes I get tired of reading sci fi, so I'll go pick on another genre for a while until I get tired of that, then switch to another, and so on.
It's just that sci fi is the best for me.

I have a deep, deep mistrust of anything fantasy... Too much of it is the harlequin stuff with a big manly warrior who goes to rescue the scantily clad female from the dragons and goblins...
But fantasy well-done is very good. Like The Lord of the Rings. Or the Alvin series. Or the Narnia books.
But I'm much more of a science-fiction geek, I think.

I prefer scifi. I think its because I can almost understand living in a futuristic world more than in one with magic and such.

You know, I realized a couple of years ago that I hadn't read either of these two genres -- so I immediately set to work remedying that situation. I still haven't read a western...
