It is January 1, 2005. In Minnesota. It is 27 degrees out, and it is sleeting. For those of you unfamiliar with sleet, it is not rain, and it is not hail, but somewhere in between. Imagine little bits of icee falling from the sky. Um, that would be white chery or sprite flavor. But I can hear it hitting the roof and windows in sharp little splats.
Okay, here's the weird part... there's an electrical storm going on, too. Thunder and lightning. Great big flashes of lightning.
Anyway, this means that my truck is going to be completely encased in ice in the morning. Luckily I don't have to go anywhere if I don't want to.
Anyway, is it still unseasonable cold down south? Why don't you send it back up here, where it belongs?

Well...down south in Iowa, it is also sleeting. My car was parked outside (unusual) and when I went to get in it, I had to chip ice from various surfaces in order to open doors and see through windows, etc.
Sleet is very strange stuff, I agree. It sort of plops down and sticks. It covers cars in a lumpy clear coating of ice.
Probably beautiful in the morning sun.
I'll have to go look tomorrow.

Well, the mountains of the UnitedArabEmirates received their first snowfall in history. Meanwhile down in the lowlands, heavy rainfall of 12.6millimeters (half an inch) over three days caused 500 traffic accidents in a 24hour period in Dubai as temperatures plunged to a low of 12degreesCelcius (54degreesFarenheit). Such extreme cold&wet undoubtedly being the cause of the shocking spectacle of a man and a woman hugging in public.

It's drizzling here, and the roads are solid sheets of ice. We've just canceled church for tommorrow.

We got sleet in Wisconsin, too; the roads last night were deadly, and the parking lots worse.

Sleet here, too (Fort Dodge, Iowa, area). We only had sacrament meeting today, and only 27 people attended. There were even people who came from outside Fort Dodge (Manson and Otho - Otho is us). I drove very carefully and slowly and only had one little incident when going to my sister's house after church, I bumped the curb when I was trying to stop.
In the last week, we had temperatures up to 61 degrees. This coming week, the weather forecast is all about snow, sleet, rain, freezing rain.
