I decided, after Fitz and I started to derail another thread that this subject be brought out to this thread.

Namely: Who would you cast for the characters in the upcoming miniseries: Red Mars ?

A rumour has been circulating that George Clooney might be playing Frank Chalmers.

How would you cast it?

For Sax Russell, Sam Shepard.
He's got that weather beaten look that I picture Sax having.
Plus, he's great at inserting humanity into intelligent characters.

Red Mars is a great beginning to a fantastic trilogy, but I haven't read it for so many years. I can't really remember the personalities of the characters very well. I could see Ed Harris playing Frank. Isn't George Clooney a little young?

How about Mike Meyers as Frank and Dana Carvey as John, with Ellen Degeneris as Maya?

Hey, how about Arnold Schwarzenegger as John. Now if only he could do a convincing American accent.

I haven't read this book, and don't know anything about it. But I have to say, I'd go see it a lot faster if Ed Harris were in it than if George Clooney were in it.
