1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed

16 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently

6 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs

27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs

50 to flame the spell checkers

48 to correct spelling/grammar flames

7 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another

6 to condemn those 6 as anal-retentive

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"

15 know-it-alls who claim *they* were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct

154 to email the participant's ISPs complaining that they are in violation of their "acceptable use policy"

118 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum

203 to demand that cross posting to hardware forum, off-topic forum, and lightbulb forum about changing light bulbs be stopped

111 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts *are* relevant to this forum

306 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for
this technique and what brands are faulty

1 to ask if when buying a new bulb they should go for a screw or bayonet type

98 to argue that their version of screw in or bayonet is better than the other and always will

27 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs

14 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's

3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group

33 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"

12 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy

19 to quote the "Me too's" to say "Me three"

4 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ

44 to ask what is a "FAQ"

4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

143 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"

1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again

And 1 to post the same topic two days later.

Otherwise poor Jon Boy and I will feel left out.

One to post and say that the changing light bulbs list isn't original and demand attribution or at least acknowledgement of that fact.

When I started to read this, I thought, naah, there's no way that a list like this could be at all accurate.

I was wrong. It's all so terribly true.

A few I think you may have missed (results may very depending on day of original post, and wattage of bulb changed)

I'm not sure of the number you need, maybe about 5 or 6, but you forgot the posts about what other members might think of the original post.

Exactly 29 no more no less, to speculate about what other members might think of the other posts.

14.5 Posts asking members who haven't yet posted on the thread what they think.

11 and 1/3 posts asking mebers who already posted to explain what they meant.

17 posts apologizing for not knowing what they should say about light bulbs because they are knew to Hatrack.

9 posts saying that they aren't sure if they should post anything on a subject as touchy as light bulbs being as they are new

31 to welcome those people to Hatrack, some of these may breifly comment on lightbulb changing
117, 39 posts composed entirely of smilies, and 39 (one after each of the smilie posts explaining why smiles are stupid, 39 (one after each of those) explaining why the people who think smiles are stupid, are in fact all idiots.

78 jokes about lightbulbs, at least 32 of which must be lightbulb related sexual inuendo

112 posts calling the people who posted jokes ensensitive

57 posts saying how great the person who posted the original message is for their skills in either writing or lighting

23 posts asking the person who started the thread questions about things unrelated to light bulbs

49 posts saying what they feel the felt original poster forgot, and actually writing apost as long or longer than the original post. 24.5 of which will restate at least half of what was in the original post (putting them in their own words is optional)

No one can change the lightbulb, first it has to admit that it has a problem and is no longer able to do it's job, then the light bulb must want to change.

Besides, this isn't the right conduit to allow my talents to flow. I need something with more utility. Anyway, I'm feeling pretty wired right now, so I thought I'd better switch to something else -- take charge as it were. Before I burn out. I filamental break coming on as it is.
