In my electronix (the x makes it cool) class, the teacher was talking about resistance, and we made a little "simple" circuit with a resistor. The resistor wasn't working, so the Professor exlaimed "The resistance is useless."

Any good geek would do as I did and say "Don't you mean the 'resistance is futile.'" Unfortunately, since she is originally from the Ukraine, she thought I was correcting her and got upset at me, but not nearly as upset with me when I started saying "I cannot do it, she needs more power" in the Scottie voice.

"Electricity is not funny. Don't laugh please."

I've really got to learn to limit my gooberness in that class, but can you really blame me for such an easy reference?

Yes, we can blame you all we want...

that doesn't change the fact that it made ME laugh. Congratulations, and thanks.

Dang it, Nate, my first fluff post and you have to go and make me think about something serious like cultural influences and such.

That was your first fluff post? It won't be the last, what with resistance being futile and all....

We need an artist.

Picture a Borg Cube floating in orbit around a distant planet. From it come a chorus of: think, think, think.

"Whiney the Borg
Whiney the Borg
Silly willy really ol
Stuffed with Nanites

He's Whiney the Borg
Whiney the Borg
Silly willy illy
old Borg"

Don't worry as long as a Tigger keeps changing the frequency he'll be able to save Pooh.

If the Borg assimilated Bill Cosby: "Asm Plasm Assimilatasm!"

If the Borg assimilated Cartman: "No, kitty, that's OUR pot-pie!" and "Listen, boy, you gotta respect our assimilay-a-tah!"

If the Borg assimilated Brak: "We forget how to be a collective, that assimilation half lobotomized us!"

If the Borg assimilated Milton: "We were told we could be assimilated between the hours of nine a.m. and eleven a.m. and if they don't let us assimilate... well, okay. But we're going to set fire to the Cube."

If the Borg assimilated Matt Foley: "Hi kids! We are the Borg and we are an assimilational speaker! We are thirty-six years old and we live in a van DOWN BY THE RIVER!"

If the Borg assimilated Holy Grail:

CROWD:
A Borg! A Borg! A Borg! A Borg! We've found a Borg! Burn her! Burn her! Burn her! We've found a Borg!

Ensign #1:
We have found a Borg. May we burn her?

CROWD:
Burn her! Burn! Burn her! Burn her!

Number 1:
How do you know she is a Borg?

Ensign #2:
She looks like one.

CROWD:
Right! Yeah! Yeah!

Number 1:
Bring her forward.

Borg:
I'm not a Borg. I'm not a Borg.

Number 1:
Uh, but you are dressed as one.

Borg:
They dressed me up like this.

CROWD:
Augh, we didn't! We didn't...

Borg:
And this isn't my eyepiece. It's a false one.

Number 1:
Well?

Ensign #1:
Well, we did do the eyepiece.

Number 1:
The eyepiece?

Ensign #1:
And the bald cap and wires, but she is a Borg!

Ensign #2:
Yeah!

CROWD:
We burn her! Right! Yeaaah! Yeaah!

Number 1:
Did you dress her up like this?

Ensign #1:
No!

Ensign #2 and 3:
No. No.

Ensign #2:
No.

Ensign #1:
No.

Ensign #2 and #3:
No.

Ensign #1:
Yes.

Ensign #2:
Yes.

Ensign #1:
Yes. Yeah, a bit.

Ensign #3:
A bit.

Ensign #1 and #2:
A bit.

Ensign #3:
A bit.

Ensign #1:
She has got a foam suit.

RANDOM:
[cough]

Number 1:
What makes you think she is a Borg?

Ensign #3:
Well, she turned me into a collective!

Number 1:
A collective?

Ensign #3:
I got better.

Ensign #2:
Burn her anyway!

Ensign #1:
Burn!

CROWD:
Burn her! Burn! Burn her!...

Number 1:
Quiet! Quiet! Quiet! Quiet! There are ways of telling whether she is a Borg.

Ensign #1:
Are there?

Ensign #2:
Ah?

Ensign #1:
What are they?

CROWD:
Tell us! Tell us!...

Number 1:
Tell me. What do you do with Borgs?

CROWD:
Burn! Burn them up! Burn!...

Number 1:
And what do you burn apart from Borgs?

Ensign #1:
More Borgs!

Ensign #3:
Shh!

Ensign #2:
Wood!

Number 1:
So, why do Borgs burn?

[pause]

Ensign #3:
B--... 'cause they're made of... wood?

Number 1:
Good! Heh heh.

CROWD:
Oh, yeah. Oh.

Number 1:
So, how do we tell whether she is made of wood?

Ensign #1:
Build a bridge out of her!

Number 1:
Ah, but can you not also make bridges out of stone?

Ensign #1:
Oh, yeah.

RANDOM:
Oh, yeah. True. Uhh...

Number 1:
Does wood sink in water?

Ensign #1:
No. No.

Ensign #2:
No, it floats! It floats!

Ensign #1:
Throw her into the pond!

CROWD:
The pond! Throw her into the pond!

Number 1:
What also floats in water?

Ensign #1:
Bread!

Ensign #2:
Apples!

Ensign #3:
Uh, very small rocks!

Ensign #1:
Cider!

Ensign #2:
Uh, gra-- gravy!

Ensign #1:
Cherries!

Ensign #2:
Mud!

Ensign #3:
Uh, Holograms! Holograms!

Ensign #2:
Lead! Lead!

Picard::
A duck!

CROWD:
Oooh.

Number 1:
Exactly. So, logically...

Ensign #1:
If... she... weighs... the same as a duck,... she's made of wood.

Number 1:
And therefore?

Ensign #2:
A Borg!

Ensign #1:
A Borg!

CROWD:
A Borg! A Borg!...

Ensign #4:
Here is a duck. Use this duck.
[quack quack quack]

Number 1:
Very good. We shall use my largest scales.

CROWD:
Ohh! Ohh! Burn the Borg! Burn the Borg! Burn her! Burn her!

Number 1:
Right. Remove the supports!
[whop]
[clunk]
[creak]

CROWD:
A Borg! A Borg! A Borg!

Borg:
It's a fair cop.

Ensign #3:
Burn her!

CROWD:
Burn her! Burn her! Burn her! Burn! Burn!...
