Yeah, um, like, if the average American were tried for being a speaker of English, would there be sufficient evidence to, like, um, convict it?Posts: 11017 | Registered: Apr 2003

Well, I've been going gung-ho on the Atkins diet most of this year, and pretty pleased with myself.
But yesterday I read This Article that now makes me feel guilty for being on the diet.
Written by the Land Institute (which I support so greatly that I even link to it off my home page) -- it says that if everyone in America were to start this low-carb, high protein thing, how much that would max out our land resources trying to support all the cows, etc., needed to provide for the demand, and for the extra grain grown to support those animals, etc.

According to yet another thread, no matter what we eat, or what language we speak we may be doomed anyway .

Farmgirl, I hear a lot of our grain production goes to making alcoholic beverages. At least meat has some nutritional value. Also, costs of treating degenerative diseases are skyrocketing. So if it is making you healthier, don't feel guilty. Still, there are more low-starch diets that encourage you to eat veggies that would be even healthier.
Edit: There are also vegetarian low carb resources a plenty. I'm not a fan of the Atkins diet per se, but I am anti sugar, corn syrup and refined flour. In principle.
