1) It kicks me off for no good reason. 2) Then it does it again. 3) And again.
As a consequence, I left two conversations dangling in mid sentence and missed an opportunity to have my name up in the "out of context" thread once again.

Tenacious little bastard, ain't it scott? Requires blocking a whole mess of ports. I think the more effective approach is simply to prevent DNS lookups on the servers it uses to sign in, and only allow local DNS.
And the workplace should use a local jabber server instead

I wish my company was progressive enough to allow a uniform chat program at work.
Currently, we've got 4 icq groupware servers in addition to the groups that use AIM, Yahoo messanger, MSN messenger, Novel (send messages) and messaging built into NT4 (they're just starting to roll out the Win2k beta tests).
Then again, we run iPlanet as our mail server, and use Netscape 4.6 as the company standard. They just installed IE 6 as an alternate browser last year (netscape is still the standard, though!).
Personally, I use trillian when I'm at home. If nothing else, I get no ads, and only have to run one program to talk to everone.

I use MSN. I used to be an ICQ loyalist, until AOL bought it and turned it into a torture device.

Heh. I have a love/hate relationship with AIM. Today, I hate it. I keep getting an error message that says, "Your buddy list has not been lost, but cannot be currently displayed." WHAT?!!
I hated it last week, too, when it wouldn't load properly.
But when it works, I love it.

My husband has asked me to no use AIM because everything from AOL seems to screw up our system so that we will rue using anything besides AOL. Of course, Microsoft actually went on paper saying they want navigating the web with anything other than Explorer to be a "jarring experience".
