Only if you feel comfortable doing it. We all love your posts, I should think that if you were to stop, or slow down on the account of a landmark, then everyone loses!
Thanks for the 10K! I always look forward to your posts!

Oh, this is a great thread. *happy* Considering I blew my 8,000 post teasing Jon Boy, I like the idea of his post thread becoming an anthem to a potential rival and a praise thread for me. *hums happily*

Katie, my wife assures me that my sense of humor has not vanished. No need to be jealous just because I make her laugh and not you.

Jon Boy, you mean what I said is so important enough to you that you needed an ego-validation to eliminate the pain? Wow! I didn't know my opinion means that much to you. I'll be so much more careful now, dearie. *writes down in journal - Only tease Jon Boy on Tuesdays*
*sticks out hand to Jon Boy* I'd feel just horrible about that. Okay, no more taunting for today. You're not a fragile poodle. You're funny. It can't have just dissapeared like that. Pat's happily married and he's funny, and you're mini-Pat, so it should be fine. You know. Someday. Okay, now I swear I mean it. No more for today.
How's school and the writing and such going?

You know, I still find myself quite funny. I'm not at all worried, no matter how much other people may say that I've changed. But on the whole, things are good. I just finished my last final, and I have a lighter class load next semester, so I'll be able to work on writing and art and stuff (hopefully).

I also think the funniest people have an edge. While it is very fun to be around those with an edge, it is often not happy to BE the one with edge. It means you've been sliced.
At the moment, you've lost the edge, but not the essential humor. It means you've gone from Bloom County to Family Circus, but, as per Pat, it'll be back when you reach equilibrium, I think.
Also, you don't have as much vested interest in making Hatrack laugh, so I don't think you try as hard.

Sorry - I've decided to do the landmark, and I need to write it, and I have to wrap and send 12 presents to nieces and nephews, and finish a major work project by Friday, and see Lord of the Rings, and organize a trip to Houston for Saturday, and put together and overnight a package to my baby brother, and call my aunt figure out how I'm going to be in two different places for Christmas, and I'm such an addict I can't not post for that long. It won't last long. This is only the emergency username.
I used Stanlie for a few months back in '02, but I think I gave it away during the Great Registration Freeze of the winter of '03.

Yeah, I think the biggest thing is that making Hatrack laugh just isn't my biggest priority. I still love hanging out here, but right now it's a place to zone out and relax, not a place to be astonishingly witty. I just don't have the energy right now.

And that's okay. You don't have to perform to be a part of Hatrack. You just don't get the laughs then that you do when you do perform.
If it helps, the biggest laugh I got in the last week was entirely accidental. I'm trying to figure out whether to claim it, or else keep quiet and pretend I meant to be that funny.
This happens to me a lot. I remember Bob starting the "Specific Culture Questions" and started off with questions for the rich. It included questions like "What do you do if you find the butler passed-out drunk on the couch?" and "How high should the fence around the private beach reach?" I answered every one and got huge laughs. *sigh* Sadly, I didn't know it was a joke and was happily doing my best. I wish I'd saved it now.

Gosh, and here I was worried that the days of Jon Boy's shameless whining for attention had come to an end. Good to see that some things never change.

Dude, if that's the only reason that you curl your nose hair, don't bother; I don't do it either.

I think that in order to be a true post whore, one needs to account not only for the number of posts but for the length of time the individual has been registered at hatrack.
For example, Ryoku has only been around for 9 months and has almost the same number of posts as I do after nearly 4 years.

True. kat has been here less time than me, yet she's almost at the 10k mark. I'm not even at 4k.

For a true post whore, I think signal-to-noise ratio should be considered. There are people with over a thousand posts who have yet to actually say anything.
I blame the post whore THREADS, like the hug and last post threads.

I also recall you once blaming the UBB format (as opposed to the "old board" format) for shortening the average post.

And there's people like me. While I've never set foot in the last post thread nor the hug thread (that I can recall) I'm still quite confident in saying that the vast majority of my posts have been noise.
Move along, folks. No signal to see here.

Yep. It's made it much harder to have serious "intellectual" conversations -- which has been both a good and a bad thing.

No, it means I haven't checked to see if your computer is working because I'm still on campus. Don't worry, I'll let you know when something happens. For better or worse.

I think there are some other people who are now over 2000, or very close to it who weren't when this thread was new, and I'm insanely bored and willing to bump the thread.

Gah! How does Raia, who registered a full year after me, have so many more posts? Do you carry around a laptop with you and post every 30 seconds? Posts: 3852 | Registered: Feb 2002

Javert, before you get irate about Raia's posting more than you in less time, I recomend that you seek out Eruve Nandiriel and check her post count and registration date, she is an inspiration to post whores everywhere. Just Kidding EN Posts: 733 | Registered: Sep 2003

The curvature of nose hair would seem to be dependent upon how much lateral pressure is regularly being applied to the nasal follicles by the digits. The flatter the follicle, the curlier the hair.
