I am thrilled! I never have signed up for a beta before, and talk about the one to get. I can't wait for this game, and being in the Beta means that I get it months before I normally would.
Anyone else get into the beta? or looking forward to this game?
Oh and I downloaded the Unreal Tournament 2004 demo. Holy cow am I good at it. I expected to get my but kicked until I got used to playing a FPS on the computer (I played CS at a LAN party once, but thats it).
Imagine my surprise when I was the top rated player in my first game. Since then its only gotten worse. My average score at the end of a game is typically at least twice as high as the next person's. I get "Unstoppable" and "Godlike" regularly. Some of my scores have been 34 kills to 2 deaths, 79-8, 45-3, its ridiculous. I single handedly win games for my team. When I am in a room fighting three people by myself, I often walk away with three kills and literally untouched. In the team deathmatch game I just played I had seven more frags (37) than the entire other team, and only died once.
I have no idea why! Nobody seems to be able to shoot, and they all have crap for tactics and strategy. I can't be THAT good. Either everyone else is just plain bad at it or I am the most naturally gifted FPS player in history.
Now I will likely buy the game sometime, but not just yet. Enjoying it for free so far .
Oh and I am currently on a streak of 8 wins in chess in a row...
Last I checked, WoW wasn't doing anything different that hadn't already been done in EQ. Let us know your impressions of the game when you get a chance.
By the way, my brother is in beta for City of Heroes and it's playing extremely well.

I got to beta test for Uru: the myst online game... Sadly, it did not end up being that good of a game. Either that, or the puzzle just were too complex for me
But Congratulations!

>> By the way, StarCraft is way better than Warcraft 3. In my opinion anyway. <<
Don't even get me started. I have the opposite view and have expounded upon it here on more than one occasion.
Basically, I think War3 fixes what was wrong with StarCraft. And thus I no longer play SC, but still find myself going back to War3 more than any other game I've played.

I am Xavier there too. I was amazed it wasn't taken.
I usually use the "Instant Play" option and have mostly played assault and onslaught. Both are fun fun fun.
Do you think the instant play may be what newbs do and is why I have such crappy competition? I do seem to run into the same people over and over there, do I wonder...
What server are you? (and is the game out yet?I'm too lazy to go look)

UT isn't really my style, so I don't think I'd be as good at it. More of a Battlefield/Call of Duty player.

If it is then I will have a good laugh at myself. They cerainly seemed human, but that would explain why the sucked so bad...
Yeah, now come to think of it, they might have been bots. No human game setup would have only bad players. I never suspected because the play style screamed human to me. I'm not sure if that should impress me or not, making the bots have such human-like stupidity that I mistake it for the real deal...
And shush you. I am getting on right now. Just was finishing my shower and shaving .

I am looking at WoW as another game to consider when I leave EQ. A few of my friends have left EQ or are planning to do so soon to make more time for the WoW beta. It's not the only option, but it certainly is an interesting one.
Not interested in the beta though. I'll go to a new game when there is a finshed product to evaluate.
Edit: Gratz to you Xavier; I hear the WoW beta is pretty competitive.

I have to admit that I'm impressed with how well it runs on my laptop (was bored at work one night). Even though I was maxed out at 15FPS, it still looked somewhat playable (as opposed to Halo, which ran like crap at 40 FPS).
