Our family is planning a cross-country trip this summer, and one of the places we are thinking of staying is near the Newport Aquarium in Newport, KY, near Cincinnati.
Does anyone know the neighborhood around the Newport Aquarium? Is it a good area to stay for the night? Coming from Los Angeles county, I know that crack houses and million dollar mansions can be only 10 miles apart, and we don't want to stay in a seedy part of town. So is Newport really nice or not?
Thanks in advance.

hey, newport is ok. I would be fine staying at any of the hotels, so long as its a franchise hotel and not some 'mom and pop' one. Im from cincinnati, so if you have any other questions about it, I can probably answer.

There's a seafood restaurant in the plaza in front of the aquarium with great crab cakes - the best I've ever had more than 40 miles inland. And the slaw is great.
I second the assessment about the neighborhood from a visitor's perspective. Plus, be sure to go to Skyline while you're there. Best. Chilli. Ever.
