Is there some naughty use of the word "Ender" I'm not aware of?

I'm trying to figure out why it won't show up when I click on the actual thread, but does when I click on the link to gamesmaq.dom. Hmm.

Hmm, this seems right down my alley. How could someone be doing this, without letting me know about it? Where's my Cat O' Nine Tails?

This just confuses me, because I've never seen the Google ads at the bottom of the page ... don't know why, don't plan to ask for them ...

but I had to reply to see if I see anything now ...

edited to add: nope, still nothing

Kayla,
Because the adds at the bottom of the page change constantly. The screenshot is a picture of a time when that particular add was showing up at the bottom of the page...chances are 5 minutes later the add was gone, replaced by a different add.

Maybe some lewd ad distributor put a back door into Google's ad selection software.

You need to do a filesearch of your computer and see if you have XXXBAR or some similar trojan program like Xupiter, that got loaded into your computer without your knowledge when you visited a contaminated or booby-trapped website. XXXBAR will corrupt your browser and produce a whole new toolbar, with links to porn sites. It and Xupiter and similar programs will also generate popup ads. While you are at it, if you got any trojans, then you also need to check for spyware infecting your computer--programs like "WebRebates" (Xupiter is also spyware) since they will actually gather information from your computer and send it to some site via your internet connection where this information is being gathered, all without your knowledge.

The original problem was that trojans (unwanted programs) got into your computer. There are programs designed specifically to hunt for and eradicate these programs. Firewalls help to detect them and keep them out. The first time I realized I had WebRebates lurking in my computer was when I just intalled the McAfee firewall program, and next time I booted up the computer, it told me that: "WebRebates1 is trying to gain access to the Internet--should this access be granted or denied?" Of course I said denied, and then I searched my file system for all related files and deleted them. (Some I actually had to delete by first rebooting in MSDOS mode, because while I was running Windows, I was not allowed to delete WebRebates0.exe or WebRebates1.exe because the file was "protected or in use.")

I wonder...

Since OSC ads keep popping up at the bottom, maybe if we have more threads like this porn ads' pop up.

That's odd. I'll run ad-aware when I get home. I don't have any of the search bars or other symptoms though. Strange. Funny though. [Smile]

Some more trojans to look out for (popup ad generators and spyware) are: msbb.exe, sahagent.exe, 180solutions.exe, nCase.exe, DotNow.exe, FIZ1.exe, FIZ2.exe, FIZ3.exe. Also watch out for their associated .dll files.

Some of them, when you try to delete them, will resist deletion, and you will get a message like: "file is being used by Windows." (msbb.exe will do that). You have to reboot the computer in MSDOS mode and delete them using DOS commands. Just calling up the DOS prompt while still in Windows will not work. You have to reboot the computer in DOS mode. Then after you finish deleting, you can type WIN to load Windows.

Figured it out, I think. It's Claria, or what evil evil Gator has renamed itself. It's blasted away now.

For others edification, some spyware/adware will not only create extra popups, but can hijack other more legitimate ads.
