I have got to find some Jewish friends, just to finally find out what all these strange foods are.

Silly Dagonee. Sufganiyot (filled donuts) are great! I particularly like them with raspberry jam. Or custard . . . mmmmmmmmmmm.

Dana, so do I! I think I'll have time to get to the bakery tomorrow. *drool*
The religious significance of both latkes and sufganiyot is the oil they are fried in. The miracle of Chanukah (well, one of the miracles) centers on oil, so we fry stuff!

I didn’t want to take time to make real donuts, so I buttered a piece of bread on both sides, fried it golden brown, sprinkled it with sugar and put a little bit of cream cheese frosting and a spoonful of raspberry preserves on top. Yummy!

I'd just like to say that this is excellent logic.
