As I feel it is inappropriate to send several posts to you, with all of my questions and comments, I'll send it in one summarised letter, with my personal apologies for the quick jumping off-topic.
1) I'm sorry for the "Auschwitz and Genocide" thread of mine; it was a bit excessive... It was on the 60th, so I felt a moral obligation...
2) I heard that you met my old SciFi teacher (Raz Grinberg) sometime in 2003 (I think in Israel, but it might have been in the USA): once the Schience-Fiction class heard of that fact, it erupted in joy; just to alert you.
3) As you have a fantastic talent of making a brilliant book aout of anything, anytime, anywhere, anyhow - I thought of it: why not make some plot out of the characters in this forum?
I mean, every active poster here can be a base for a character in your book (hopefully me too, but that's not my business). Why not try and make it? It could be anything from a documentary of how forums function in 2005 to a bunch of smart guys starting their own nation. Whatever comes to mind, you're simply the one and only I know who can write a book out of anyithing, and make it interesting.
Please, do it; for Hatrack!
Yours sincerely, Your #X fan, The one who still needs the Homecoming Saga and persuades his parents, The one who, while having only 20 Euros to spend over two weeks, went all around Dublin searching for your books (bargain) on the first day, The one who is desperate for SOTG, Jonathan Howard
(P.S. Did I sound too flattering or pompous? Sorry for that!)

I wrote that story and finished it last year. It's about 22,000 words, and it's been sitting on my hard drive waiting for me to summon the energy for another edit.

As far as I know, Irami is NOT Orson Scott Card, but merely wrote a story including many hatrackers.

If anyone does happen to write a story that involves me, I hereby give you permission to change my name to something infinately cooler. Perhaps something like Darth Vader or Eddie Vedder. Oh, and give me sunglasses.
That is all. Carry on.

Irami is not OSC: eg no photograph exists of Irami pulling the head off of a Jatraquero. And that's not even the amazing part. That same Jatraquero posted a picture bragging about how OSC pulled his head off!
OSC has included several Hatrackers as characters in his writing as the prize for winning an OSC-books trivia contest. And has asked some to edit as series-continuity checkers : eg PapaMoose had the opportunity to read Shadow of the Giant prior to publication. I believe that part of the thanks&dedications in his books include their names.
BTW -- The Auschwitz and genocide thread wasn't even close to being excessive. We've had far far more hyperbolic postings inre eg treatment of cats.

I had that picture saved under my favorites back home, and have the one with my head being squished framed.

Also, if you've read Alvin Journeyman, many of the citizens of Hatrack River were characters taken from the Hatrack River RPG on AOL.

Well, I remember the Hatrack River forum on AOL, but not so much an RPG... I guess some of the forum was "in character"... is that what Tom's talking about?
I was imagining something more like a MUD.

I often think of Hatrack as a play - all dialogue, fascinating characters. I want to save the whole forum and turn it into a drama. In fact, the KamaCon - BobnDanaCon time period has a number of dramas that would go very well on stage, and you could open and close with a party, like in the O.C.
*coniders* It almost makes me want to try being a writer again.

I've been channelling the creativity into things I know I have no talent in (like art). I agree that that's craven in a way, but it's better than the raw and unhinged Katie that emerges when ever I try to write creatively. At some point, I'm going to figure out how to be open enough to write honestly and still keep myself together enough to maintain my life.
