Hey, dkw, you're still up and posting? I called you an hour and a half ago and left you a message. Wassa matter, you don't want to talk to me?

Did you try calling my real phone? The cell phone is in my purse, so if I'm at home and it's in a different room I don't always hear it.

I never actually dial the phone, I just find the right number on the caller ID and hit redial. So I called whichever number you called me from last.
Also, you have a ghost? Don't you have to be dead to have a ghost?
Anyway, go listen to your message and then just post "yes" or "no." I'm lazy, I don't want to find your real number.

Hmmm. It doesn't say anything about needing to be alive. You can't be a riverboat captain, but it doesn't say you can't be a ghost.

Technically, I guess you could be a riverboat captain as long as you were also "An Iowa judge, magistrate, or associate judge serving on the supreme court, court of appeals, or district court;" or "An individual ordained or designated as a leader of a religious faith, regarless of the state of residence or service."
But they're very specific that just being a riverboat captain does not qualify.

No, I don't think I can officiate at my own wedding. Although it doesn't actually specify . . . I wonder if anybody's tried it?

Yeah, only fifty or so of my close friends and relatives are clergy. Why don't I just do it myself? Posts: 40 | Registered: Aug 2002

I, for one, would be highly amused to see Dana perform her own wedding. Of course, if the state decided such a thing is not legal, then she and Bob would be living in sin! Posts: 3546 | Registered: Jul 2002

And, under Iowa law, if a wedding is performed by someone not authorized to do so “every member of the wedding party” can be fined. I really would like to see them try to justify that, though. They’re going to fine my flower girl if I have someone shady officiate?
