I think, after the thread on Christo's Gates, that Hargo's new work will find a very receptive audience here at Hatrack. I'd be really interested in everyone's impressions.

Edited to add the following link to Hargo's Somerville Gates:

FYI, the nytimes pieces is not as good as Hargo's website, and you don't have to log in for Hargo. Clearly, he is an artist of the people.

I liked "Gates of the Fluffy Rug." It's as if the fluffy rug is beckoning to the gates.

So close to perfection, but he needed to put an exclamation point after the "yes" for accepting donations.

I'm a bit concerned that the Somerville Gates will be destroyed by a catstrophy sort of thing.

This is actually proof that Cristo is a gateway artist, leading kids to experiment more and move onto harder stuff.

Yes and unfortunately, like many artists ahead of their time, he will most likely have to suffer some catstigation.

the Gates from the 23rd floor of the Sherry-Netherland hotel

I thought so too. My friend's dad is a travel writer ( his NE travel site ) so the manager took us up to the room with the best view so he could take pictures for the website. [Big Grin]
