Valerie Ann Lewis was born at 2:59 p.m., Saturday, March 5. She was healthy, happy and is doing great.
Labor went for 22 hours and Mom is doing remarkably well, all things considered, and the child made her entrance into the world as Mom started laughing (the obstetrician said "Push! Push! Wait, don't push!!!! which started Mom to laughing... three chuckles and tah dah!).
7 pounds, four ounces, 20 and three-quarters inches long, with plenty of brown hair and luckily, her Mom's good looks. Posts: 472 | Registered: Aug 2004

There seem to be a lot of babies on Hatrack lately. Some kind of cycle? Was there a convention nine months ago that I wasn't invited to, or something? Posts: 10645 | Registered: Jul 2004

Better question: what was going on here 9 months ago???
adam... I've been wondering about the same thing myself. Although, the question of what was going on is not so much the mystery, but the why. It makes me wonder if nine months ago we didn't have a forum crash. Wonder when the last Hatrack crash was? Hmmm....

Sorry it took so long for me to post the announcement here, but it's been quite a week.
Due to a problem with Valorie's sinuses and nasal passages (the estrogen rush from the birthing can cause severe swelling) we had to stay at Women's Hospital for a bit of extra time.
In addition, my Grandfather went in for a 13-hour spinal surgery on Thursday and I had to spend the entire day at Baptist Hospital while they fused seven of his vertebrae and inserted titanium rods to help stabilize him. He came through just fine and is recovering now, and has been up and walking, slowly, a bit already (not bad for an 80-year old man).
Also, to top it off, my computer at home has crashed out completely and well, yanno... dang it has been busy. Diapers and feedings and clothes changings --- and that's not even counting the baby!
Thanks for all the support folks, we really appreciate it!
Edit to add: And yep, I even misspelled my daughter's name in the first post.
