I wonder if he will get to meet Zotto while there, that would make me really jealouse. (green with envy)

It isn't overrated - it really is beautiful there. My cousin got married on the beach in Hawaii, in a tiny little chapel with a wall of windows from which you could see the water twenty feet away. It was magical.

I like the Tiki Trains at the airport. I'm not so sure about the rest of the island, as I was on my way to Guam and didn't get to leave the airport.

I'm ten times more jealous than raia. It's *my* orchestra, that I put four years into, and went on four trips, and did all sorts of stuff (like photo copied everything a million times) and the minute I graduate, they go to hawaii. But this isn't a sarah is bitter thread, so I'll stop whining and wish good luck to Alcon and Allegra.

I'm betting it's warm in AZ though, DaGoat, it's freezing and snowed a bit today in Bloomington IN where Raia's friends are from (it's warm in israel too) so no whining.

Actually, it was snowing yesterday (a foot in Flagstaff - Prescott just got flurries), about 28 degrees this morning. I think the high for today was in the mid-fifties.

One day, I was driving back from working at Big Sky Floral and Design. (Big Sky is a totally artificial tourist town in the mountains near Yellowstone Park with an average yearly income of something insanely higher than anything I'll ever make.) Traffic on the windy mountain highway was mind-numbingly slow and I was grumpy that I couldn't get any radio stations yet and I wouldn't be back home in time to go to dinner with my friends.
I then looked over my shoulder and saw a raft full of rich tourists headed down the river canyon below, bursting through sprays of white water. I realized that those people down there had paid thousands of dollars and waited months just to get here and ride down a river canyon that I commuted through every day. Some people get off an airplane in my state and feel invigorated with an immediate thrill of adventure and awe at the geological beauty.
Ever since then, I've tried to be more excited about the places I am. This gets tough - I've been cursed with incurable wanderlust - but can be satisfying. Whether I'm walking down a dirt road in miserable middle-of-nowhere pristine wilderness complaining about the lack of decent Chinese Food or driving through rush hour traffic in one of my frequent trips to larger cities wishing I could just get out and take a hike, it really helps for me to stop and re-evaluate and try to appreciate the value of whatever place I'm currently in.

eh, I'd still rather be in Bloomington IN than Hawaii right now. Though I'm not there either...

Hawaii is neither over or under rated. I liked it a lot the two times I was there. Of course I didn't have to pay traveling expenses. However, I had also been to places that were just as nice if not nicer in some ways.

We've had 70 degree whether since the middle of February, and I'm actually having to mow my lawn. All of the trees are blooming and Meat Dan's allergies are already starting to act up.
So, basically, Portland is not only hip and cool and has me, but it's also experiencing PERFECT whether.

I guess I'll have to go to Hawaii someday. I'd like to eventually visit all of the states, and Hawaii counts.
Okay, I kind of resent Hawaii. It's the only state that's actually more remote than my own, but since it's warm, people actually go there. Stupid Hawaii, thinks it's so special.

Yeah, it doesn't get any more remote than this... which is okay sometimes (when you have a stalker, for instance), but can be a bother, too.

Hey breyerchic, just cause it's your orchestra doesn't mean you're more jealous than me. MY boyfriend is off vacationing in Hawaii while I'M stuck in classes...
Where's the justice in that?!
