I always preview before I post. It gives me a chance to read over what I've written, checking to make sure all my UBB Code is in order, and basically just seeing what it's going to look like in the final post. I've gone back and made corrections based on what I saw in the preview, and I expect to do so again.

I do all my corrections in public. Helps keep folks from falling into their natural assumption that I'm perfect.

There's a wide gulf between perfection and illiteracy. I'm sure I've made typos before and didn't catch them, and I'm okay with that. But there's no sense leaving the ones I do catch when it takes so little extra effort to correct them.

Always seemed to me that having both a preview and an edit function was redundant.
It's vastly easier for me to edit WYSIWYG/WhatYouSeeIsWhatYouGet, which neither the posting box nor preview provides.
