For your own safety and preparation that I will likely not be posting as much as I usually do from about this time next year until August of next year...

See, it's probably going to be a little bit difficult for me to get consistent, pervasive access to a computer while I'm in Japan, researching and doing schoolwork and buying comics.

I'm pretty sure they don't call it comics in Japan. They call it manga. As for internet access, you pretty much have to get broadband. Due to per min fees broadband is cheaper than dail up for alot of people.

I dislike code-switching. Manga are still comics. I don't call European comics bandes dessinées or whatever the Brits call them. I just love comics, all of them.

Japan has the most reliable and fastest high speed connections in Asia. (India is terrible - huge packet loss and downtime.) Getting online in Japan ought to be as easy as Dan says.

Congrats!!

(I'm visiting Kyoto in two weeks myself <oh my gosh so soon>... flying into Nagoya though!)

I believe the trip from Nagoya to Tokyo is a little under two hours with the bullet train, maybe ~$100 each way? There are bus and overnight local train options though that are cheaper.

How awesome.

Take the Nagaragawa railway to Shiratori for a weekend of skiing. Be sure to visit Inuyama Castle on your way. It's the original castle, not a rebuilt concrete replica.
