Simple trick. A magician or assisstant wears baggy clothing, (or a cape as shwon in the picture) then there is a pole/support placed under the assisst or a wire to hold them up. This is how some people are able to bend backwards without touching the ground and be able to keep their backs parallel with the ground. There is a similar trickw here a magician can float. All he does is turn his back to the audience, make a bunch of hooplah like lolling of the head, et cetera. Then the magician merely slowly balances on his toes, it has to be dark and his shoes and pants have to be dark too, pretty much all dark clothing, but the magician must face away from the audience. A dark surrounding is also preffered in order to make it hard to notice the difference between the shadow and the shoe.
