I have a nice guitar version of Greensleeves on my computer. What I need is any information on really good performances of this ballad - whether vocal or just instrumental, that I can download for free, and if so - where?

Also, does anyone know of other heart-trembling, simple-tuned ballads similar to Greensleeves? If so, how do I acquire them (for FREE)? Again, I am searching for the tune, regardless of lyrics.

Thirdly, is there any community similar to deviantART, which is more efficient for me to upload poems to and fro, preferably specialising in poetry & prose? As in, high-quality stuff, a good site, much traffic, serious members et cetera? I don't want a poets' forum, rather a works' database...

Cheers,
The Peripatetic

www.magnatune.com will allow you to download music legally but you are suppose to pay for it if you use it. I doubt they have Greensleeves, but they might have folk songs (Greensleeves is an English folk song).

Can't help you on the second question. Have you googled?

Do a search for the Hatrack Acapella thread. I think KQ had a lot of great songs. I honestly don't remember who sang them all, but there were some great songs, similar to the cool feel of Greensleeves. You might find something there.

bev did a wonderful performance of Greensleeves for us where she sang a harmony descant with herself. I'd be happy to send it to you, e-mail me. [Smile]

And I can also turn you onto folk ballads in general, I've got some good sites on that one. [Big Grin]

How about "Simple Gifts?" It is simple, and just about the most beautiful song in the world, to me.
