She's obnoxious, and she only has one hairstyle in every single episode of that America's Next Top Model travesty that's been on vh1 all day.
And she's just....
I am annoyed.
How do you guys feel about this show? I just...it seems really pointless to me. And I still can't freakin' figure out what this "ideal" female body is supposed to be.

I like the the show. Its a guilty pleasure that my roommate and I enjoy every single week and for all of VH1's endless marathons. I guess I was attracted to the fact that the show could have been VERY boring, predictable and stereotypical and yet...its not. Alot of the girls aren't your "usual beauties," the challenges are creative, and the cast is hysterical (I love my Jays!)
Its certainly not "Lost" in quality, but its entertaining and wins over most reality shows that I've tried.

I haven't seen the show, but I like Tyra Banks in general, and would like to look like she does in a VS ad.

*laughs* I stopped watching T.V. a while back. If one of my friends tells me something's worth my time, I might download it, but that's as far as it goes.

But she's soooooo blah in the looks department, too.
I don't know. I don't go for the stereotypical hot thing. You have to have something unique, something that stands out...and nothing about Tyra really stands out to me, aside from the fact that she has horrible clothing and not-so-great hair.

I don't care enough to hate her. It's just too easy to never watch her to get worked up about her.

I'm with you pH. She repulses me. Models in general tend to repulse me, and as Tyra Banks tends to represent models, she repulses me. In most cases its not a big deal, but as I actually know her name and face, she gets my dislike.

If I was forced to watch her I might hate her. If, on the odd chance, I'm watching television and I see her show, I just keep flipping channels.

First of all, I don't understand that logic.
Second, I like her because she doesn't represent models. She's not super skinny, she has personality, she's intelligent, she's thankfully not Naomi Campbell, and she's created a career for herself post-modeling and funds camps and charities to empower young girls.

ANTM is a guilty pleasure of mine as well. I like Project Runway better as far as fashiony reality TV goes but it is still fun to watch. I usually only catch it on the marathons though and I had already watched this season so I was disappointed that it was on while I was stuck home with a virus all day. Tomorrow is a West Wing marathon instead. Blah! (although I'm sure lots of West Wing fans will be thrilled)
I hate Tyra's TV show though. Her topics are stupid and the way she handles them is stupid too. Oh wait! In the words of my three-year-old, "We don't say stupid." Synonyms for stupid: dim-witted, dull, thick, dense, slow, brainless, asinine... all those are good.

pH are you trying to insinuate that above average looks can't make up for a complete dirth of personallity, a lack of intelligence, and soulesnes? Do you mean to say that America's top models are for some reason famous only through luck, genetics or good timing, and not because it takes talent to look pretty? Let me tell you something, if you want to know how to look pretty, you've just got to read a book written by a vapid, souless, cocaine-snorting, mildly retarded person with less than a highschool education. Clearly they know what's best for you.

I don't think she has much of a personality at all, and quite honestly, I think she's just as bad about promoting unhealthy body ideals for girls. It's like...you have Tyra on this show...and then you have the super skinny model girls (because the other models who aren't super skinny get cut). In all honesty, I like a lot of high fashion models. I think they have gorgeous facial features. But Tyra has this show, and if she thinks that's a way to promote empowerment for young girls, she's sadly mistaken. They spend half the time talking about who has the "look" for high fashion...which means already, they're looking for something very specific. On top of that, what I get out of the whole show is that if you aren't super skinny or voluptuous, you need to work on your figure.
I'm not saying I don't watch the show. I'm just saying it bothers me. It's visually entertaining, though. I mean, I watched Bring It On last week because it had choreography, and for some reason, that fascinated me.

I do not know enough about her to dislike her... A part of me would not mind looking like her as I am not hot... But I can't be a model anyway as I would be unhappy.

America's Next Top Model=The Tyra Banks show. Really. No need for the talk show. That's just overkill.
I don't mean to be offensive, but NONE of these girls could ever make it as a model. I know enough the fashion world (guilty pleasure) to have a *sense* of what a supermodel/model entails. Some of the ANTM girls are pretty, some are not, but none of them have the stand-out qualities and confidence of a real supermodel.
The New York Times noted that point as well so I'm not just being snippy cause I'm pretty much the antimodel in terms of looks. It's kind of sad for the girls, but like most reality shows, it's a self contained game/universe.

None of the girls are supermodels by an stretch but the majority of them are working, even the girls who don't win.

...and? Except my wedding, that's pretty much what I do...
And when you're hosting a show trying to find America's next top model you can expect to be critiqued for it. Till then, I'd stop with the comparisons.

You could always just...you know...not watch it.
What do you need with VH1 when Cartoon Network plays Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends like eight times a day.

The one time I watched her daytime talk show it was about breasts. She took off her bra under her shirt to show how saggy her boobs really were without a fancy push-up bra. You gotta love a woman like that.
