Hehe. Enjoy.

I got my cousin Harry Potter in Latin a little while back. She seemed to like it.

Yeah, 'Harrius Potter' is good. There's also 'Cattus Petasatus' (The Cat in the Hat), and Ursus nomine Paddington (A Bear Called Paddington).

Latin is so cool.

I've seen Harry Potter in ancient Greek, too.

I have Harrius Potter, and Quomodo Grinchus Nomine Invidiosulus Diem Christi Natalem Abrogaverit (How the Grinch Stole Christmas) as well. I want Winnie Ille Pu.

For the Daniel Jacksons of the world, I suppose it would be. But then, who am I to talk? I've got it in Spanish. [Smile]

Wow, you guys are gluttons for punishment. I took a semester of Latin in HS, and it was way too much effort to enjoy reading anything I was translating.

I give you props for your mastery of a useless language though [Wink]

My girlfriend pointed out something interesting to me, the spells in Harry Potter sound vaguely Latin. In the Latin version, do they translate the spells into English?

They are in Greek.

Just kidding - I don't know that. I would have put them in Greek, however.

Funny you should mention that. A potion in one of the HP books is named Felix Felicis, or 'Lucky Luck' in latin.

The wonders of a foreign language. You can make anything sound exotic by translating it. Sometimes I go by BovisOpulens to spice things up.
