So I might not be around as much until May 8. Maybe more during the week, but definitely not weekends.

Jazzfest has consumed my life. I'm there from 9 or 10 in the morning until 8 or 9 at night. Then I have to be at a club by 11pm, where I will remain until 2-3am.

I'm spending all of this time on my feet. At night, I am in heels. During the day, I am walking at least a mile to and from my car, lifting heavy objects, crawling around under tables, and constantly having to squat to get CDs for customers that are on a rack we have for some reason placed about two inches off the floor.

And yet, I am barely ever hungry.

My muscles ache. All of them. I need to get some tension headache painkillers. But at least I'll be very toned by the time this is over.

Well, toned and with much more padding in my bank account.

Does anyone else experience this, though? Usually, when I start running and stuff, I get more hungry. But now I'm doing even more physical activity over a much larger portion of the day. You'd think I'd be constantly hungry. It's weird.

Also, my skin is getting better.

It's called distraction. The more you have to do, the less time you have to eat. That's how it works in my life, at least. I can go for days on just Starbucks oatcakes and tea.

I think there should definitely be a music fest diet. Even if you are just attending the fest, you must walk about fifty miles by the time it's over, and if you like to dance, even more mileage.

I disagree about being busy and not eating, though. It has to be the right kind of busy. If it is stressful-busy, I chow on anything in my sight.

I was going to Jazzfest today. But not anymore.

Today has the only lineup I really want to see, though.

[Frown] You don't want to come visit me in the CD tent and learn the secrets of Jazzfestercise?

I would love to go! We (Birmingham) have a summertime outdoor music festival downtown every year called "City Stages". I used to love to go to it, and usually spent the whole weekend there (it goes from Friday through Sunday). I would help with the sound systems some, and with packing up at the end of the night. Willing and capable helpers were welcome.

But the bathroom situation was horrible. They have those portable toilet booths, with no cleanup all weekend, and by Sunday the things were too foul for words. The crowds and the crush were difficult, too, and the heat. I used to have free passes to the hospitality suite of one of the downtown law firms, where I could go use clean bathrooms, eat nice snacks and sodas, and have a clean, quiet, airconditioned spot in which to take respite. They also gave out free t-shirts made for the event each year. It was awesome! But the firm quit participating, and the quality of the bands seemed to decline while the ticket prices soared, so I have quit going in recent years.

I heard New Orleans' Jazzfest is much better than City Stages, and lasts all week. Now that's a vacation I could enjoy!

Jazzfestercise has been put on hold, as my boyfriend has decided to gift me with the stomach flu.

And then not even come over and bring Gatorade. [Mad]

Death.

An involuntary dietary addition to the Jazzfestercize. Lame.

So, when youre actually ambulatory enough to be there, is your booth close enough to music to hear anyone very well? If so who has given the performances you liked best?

We actually can't hear much...mostly because the tent (it's a HUGE tent) is centrally located, so we kind of get a mishmash of all the performers at once.

I've been pimpin' the newest Johnny Sketch album out to everyone, though. Not that I'm biased, or anything. I mean, I only did my internship at their label...*shifty eyes*

To add to the diet plan:

The doctor has informed me that I am not to eat until Thursday or Friday. Until then, I may only have water, tea, or Gatorade.

I'm so hungry. But I know that if I eat something, I'll throw up.

I hate you, food.

pH, that's too bad that you're sick! I was gonna stop by your tent and say hi! Feel better soon!

My boyfriend really wanted to go last weekend but we had finals, but since I finished today and he's done tomorrow we decided to go fot it. We're gonna be there Saturday and Sunday.

Any tips? I only been to small one-stage festivals in Houston and I don't know much about the New Orleans music scene so its gonna be an adventure for me (thank goodness for the bf who knows artists and stuff.) Has it been crazy hot there? How should I dress? Should I come prepared with anything? What should I even expect??

At the very least, my dad works for Shell so he's trying to get us badges for the hospitality tent and stuff so we'll have a place to chill if need be. Yay for not having to buy our own food and drinks.
