We're all done with London and have moved on to Dublin! Meanwhile, if you'd like, you can wade through all 463 photos that I posted from the London part of the trip. You can also read about my adventures at www.shigosei.blogspot.com --------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Previously, on Shigosei Goes to Britain:) Tomorrow I'll be on my way to London. I'm going on a study abroad trip with the ASU honors college. We'll spend six weeks in the British Isles, staying in London, Dublin, and Edinburgh.
I've never been outside the U.S. before, so wish me luck! Also, if any Hatrackers in the area would like to try to get together, I have Friday-Sunday free most weekends. Drop me an e-mail at [my hatrack username] at gmail.com. I'll be checking it reasonably regularly. I'll also try to post stories and pictures at shigosei.blogspot.com.
Make sure you try to get away to the continent while you're there. Ryanair flights are so cheap and some amazing countries are so close it'd be a shame not to experience something else as well!
Remember - they drink pints there. Lots of them. And for some reason I've never had better cheap takeaway curry than in London.

Enjoy! I look forward to seeing how your posts look when you make them from the left side of the road.

A good rule of thumb for wherever you travel; the driver should always be in the middle of the road.

That sounds great! I did a London-Durham-Edinburgh-Dublin trip last summer and had a great time.
Ryanair is cheap, but it's a little run down. We were slightly frightened as we flew.
Also, if you're going to drink, keep in mind that an imperial pint is twenty ounces while a pint here is only sixteen.

We'll be in the midlands and surrounding areas in the middle of June, so if you're around we'll hang out. In fact, if you're close enough, this is taking place on a weekend in Leeds.
I'd love to see Dublin and Edinburgh. I'm wicked jealous.

Hey, everyone! Things are going pretty well so far. It's a bit different being here. People talk funny
Samedi, unfortunately it looks like I won't be in England then. We're leaving for Dublin on the 7th of June.

Hope you enjoy it. I've only been to London twice, and I didn't think much of it, to be honest. Then again, I'm not much of a city person. Just watch out for fleas if you find yourself using the underground a lot >_< The first time I went there the whole group of people I was with ended up with our legs nibbled by the little buggers.
And by all means, go shopping at Hamley's. Indulge the inner child

No grid systems in England!

I would have thought you'd thought it was short. One thing that always strikes me about downtown London is how short all the buildings are- there are far, far fewer skyscrapers than you'd get downtown in a North American city...

For all future double-decker bus travelers: That is by far the best seat on the bus.

I'm just biased because I worked there for a week. (Cataloguing pottery, but still...)
You're braver than I am, for eating cucumber sandwiches.
Have fun in Dublin. I've never been, but everyone seems to love it. At least the weather shouldn't be too bad this time of year.
