Far be it for me, a lowly Noob on the great and curving River, to suggest such a momentous topic. But I am interested in us having a set of maybe 10-14 loose rules which we should voluntarily hold to in all tongue in cheek threads. Not serious threads. My kind of threads. This I started in a recent thread, and shall continue thusly:
1st Rule of Hatrack is: only talk about yourself. The 2nd rule is: only talk about yourself!
3rd rule of Hatrack: If somebody dobies, goes off topic, completely misconstrues what you say and accuses you of being the son and or daughter of Hitler, your thread has reached maturity.
4th Rule: The person with the highest post count wins
5th rule: All threads which begin by talking about recycling, must end with a discussion of the social ramifications of the Mexican American war. There are no exceptions to this rule. I checked.
7th rule: Be Consistent

12th rule: Rule 4 is always overridden by a poster's ability to ignore anyone who disagrees and doggedly stick to a seemingly illogical ideal.

I think Rule 1 is something along the lines of: "The more amusing and original you think your newly-started thread is, the more likely it is that someone else has done the same thing within the last two years."

Actually, I date back farther than that, to the GEnie days. (Admittedly, I was out of touch once AOL was the locale.)

See, now I'm curious. How did you know that I mentioned you? Are you just a superlurker? Do you have an alt? Do you know someone else on the 'rack?

Although not a music major, I agree wholeheartedly with rule 11!
I'm not really a nOOb, I've been here for about 4 years now, I just don't get a chance to post because Kwea is always hogging Hatrack!

this was an origanal screen name after hatrack was ported from Big mouth lion. then i got really involved in VBS and forgot about that i even registred a name here until they strted adding the member numbers to the names. then some one posted a list of the first ten regestered names then i remembered i had this one. I thought everyone knew what my most used alt is.
Rereading this post i realized i need to get some sleep before i go to work tonight. this is why i lurk i ramble to much and my grammer is terrible.
