So there was an all day Kyle XY marathon last monday and I thought, what the heck, I'll give it a shot.
The show is based around two main points. A coming of age tale of a family in suburbia, and the mystery of a boy who was found in the woods who has the mental capacity for just about anything.
And the biggest shocker of all? It has Krycek from the X-Files! And not just the actor who plays him, but pretty much the exact same character with a different name! Creeps around the families house, calls a mysterious person on a cell phone, spins a few lies here and there, spying on kyle with cameras, points guns at people, wears a ski mask. Every time the guy is on the screen I literally point at the TV and say "KRYCEK!!"
Anyway, if you like coming of age drama stuff, a fresh mix of comedy, and an xfiles-like mystery, you'll like Kyle XY.

My friend's little sister burned all the episodes on cd for me since I expressed interest in seeing it. I can't wait to watch them, especially because of all the clues they plant in fake commercials and websites. Pretty cool.

I've been very unimpressed with this show. To me it seems to be suffering from the same issues that the 4400 did (i.e. great ideas, poor execution in scripting and acting).

I've watched the first 5 episodes, and I find that the story is interesting, with some moderate character development (even if I don't like most of them).
I have two main problems. First of all, the narration has got to go. It's terrible.
Second, for a show on ABC Family, they've stuck a lot of sex in it. Every single person on the show is a slut. Mom, dad, sis, bro, and even Kyle.
Aside from those two things, I like it enough to keep watching. Really good timing too, since the show is over till next season already. :-(

I agree. I watched the first episode with my ultra-conservative parents and they turned it off there was so much of it. Now for them, that's not a rare occurence, but it seems like it wouldn't be an issue with a family channel. I tried watching an episode at my own house and didn't find anything appealing about the show. Predictable ideas, bad acting, a few plot holes, etc.

Anyone else watch the season premiere? I just finished it, so haven't formed all my opinions yet. Seemed a little heavy-handed and preachy, but I don't think that's new -- I just hadn't seen it in a while. I may keep watching, but for the kind-and-light-heartedness of it rather than any deep meaning or lasting value. Kind of the television version of Robert Asprin.
(I just didn't want to get left out of the whole bump-old-threads-for-season-premieres thing.)

The joke between my friends and I concerning ABC Family and the sudden infusion of sexual refences into all of its programing is that it is a "new kind of family."
