Yeah. I hadn't been over there in a while- but that's uh... that's pretty different. Most be recent- since none of the links work yet.

Nice update, very modern compared to last one. Much more professional looking. Nice job guys, get the links working though, can't access anything

I agree that the text is small...but that is probably because I have my screen resolution at 1280 x1024, and they probably developed that for people running 1024 or 800 x 600. I can always change my text size quickly with a keyboard command when I come across any site with small font.

A note: the text on the front page (which is repeated over and over) is not current, but was originally placeholder text placed there when the design was first being developed.
Fear not! Pweb shall return, and with up to date info.

4 days (at least)? You guys must be distraught!!! I joined over there when Hatrack was down for ONE NIGHT - I'd probably be crying if it went longer... I'm pulling for you.

When will it be back? I need somewhere to lurk! I've been lurking in this thread, but it's just not the same.

Okay, basically the transfer was unexpected and couldn't have come at a worse time. Both my husband and I have Oct 1 deadlines. So that is what Pweb will look like, and there will be a forum. Soon...
I'll try to get the forum up ASAP, but expect at least a week before we can really get down to work on it.
I've come very close to giving up and getting someone else to take charge, because this will always be a problem. I am no longer actively programming, so I can't fix things. Husband is way too busy. So is the rest of the original Jeesh and even others we recruited later.
So here is the question: Who is passionate and trustworthy, responsible enough to take charge of Philoticweb? Not just the forum, but the website?
Perhaps it should become a democracy. A president. A tech admin. Forum admin. Voted for by the fans. Changed every year to prevent burnout and keep it viable. Because Pweb is an organization of fans and is not profitable, so is always going to be something someone must do in addition to real jobs and school and parenting etc.

You guys might actually be able to port the old posts and threads into the new one. Phpbb's website has tons of addons, and I seem to recall a few that might have done something like that. They're also pretty well supported.
I don't have time to look into it for you, unfortunately, but it's probably worth a look.

If there was a backup of the database, it should be importable, unless it is so old as to be many versions back.

The previous forum was openbb - and I'm not completely sure that Ami has access to the old db anymore.

edit: if you get someone to commit the time/energy to run things over there, you could Dobie yourself with a 'Takeover at Philotic Web' thread.

OK, it's back up, so all you people who have been using this cold heartless forum as a substitute need to just head on back before you get any ideas of staying.
Jayelle, I'm looking at you.
HA, PWeb goes down and suddenly you've got free time to post? You better be as talkative there as you were here.
EL, I know you're thinking "but I was already a hatracker" well that malarcky is ending now. Back to PWeb, and no complaining. I'll be talking to the Janitor about banning you from this place. Same goes for you, Rei. I'm fairly sure it's too late to save Taal, though.
Uhleeuh, Fris, Ozzy (who is that guy?) off you go now, see you over at PWeb III.

Ami, thanks for getting the board up so quick!
As to the mods, I'm not sure what should be done. I don't know if elections would be wise or if they might turn into a popularity thing. Regardless, I'm willing to continue on for the time being.

I also agree with Ali about the elections idea. I'm not a huge fan of popularity contests. As for helping with the site, I have only the very most basic knowledge of coding, so I can't help there. However, if you need help with modding, I have a fair idea of what it involves and would be willing to help.
