Mine is international talk like a pirate day!! We celebrate them in tandem, this year I got both a birthday AND a pirate balloon, and we went and played Pirate Mini Golf! And one of my presents was an eyepatch. Yarrrrr!

Not on that site, but it's also World Environment Day and Denmark's Constitution Day (which is neat, cause I have some Danish heritage).

So, who actually got to decide that these were holidays? For the most part, I've never heard of them.

Hey - that's my dad's birthday, too. My older daughter's birthday is the day before - Fool's Paradise Day. My dad actually was disappointed that I hadn't tried to "wait" 4 more hours so she could be born on his birthday. (No, Dad, giving birth doesn't work that way. It's not generally something you want to do for longer than necessary.)

My birthday is National Pigs in a Blanket Day which doesn't work because I'm a vegetarian.. O well.. I think it's also National Secretary's Day or something.

<Edit>: Sorry! April 29th </edit> * International Dance Day. * Japan (public holiday since 1927, traditionally the start of the Golden Week holiday period.) o The Emperor's Birthday (1927-1988. Holiday of Emperor Hirohito's birthday until his death in 1989). o Greenery Day (1989-2006). o Shōwa Day (2007 - Day of Showa period, which is reigned by Emperor Hirohito) * Roman Empire - second day of the Floralia in honor of Flora. * Bahá'í Faith - The ninth day of the Festival of Ridván.
There it is, no cool holidays, but TONS of cool events happened on that day.

Haha, kojabu, we totally did!! They played "Pirates of the Caribbean" three times while we were there!
And you can SO make veggie pigs in blankets! Just gotta use the right brand of not-dog, one that stands up well to baking. So far I've tried the Quorn ones with not much success, but some of the nice juicy ones would do great.
The really hard part is finding a replacement for the crazy-chemicals-hydrogenated-corn products-white sugar Pillsbury rolls. I don't think Greenstar has anything, and getting to unroll those little triangles is the best part!

Oh freddled gruntbuggly, thy micturations are to me...
Nothing beats my sister's two daughters: one was born on April 15th, tax day, and the other was born on the anniversary of Black Tuesday, the day the stock market crashed in the 30s. Money on the brain, I guess...

Interesting. Mine's "Garlic Day," which is surprisingly fitting, as garlic is a favourite flavour of mine.
It's also the anniversary of the start of the American Revolution, the fire at the Branch Dividian complex in Waco, TX, and the Oklahoma City Bombing. Sweet day.

Mine is. . . . National Hollerin' Contest Day
Periodically, I also share the birthday with Father's Day.
Mothers day is another one that occasionally shares with a birthday in my family. We're odd like that.

Mine is National Lemon Cupcake Day. Guess I know what flavor of cake to get this year. Of course, I just missed out on National Chocolate Covered Anything Day. Darn it all.

Baking powder biscuits make a great substitute for refrigerator biscuits (which is what my pigs-in-a-blanket recipe calls for.) And you can even use unbleached flour.
