Did anyone else watch it last night? I guess it's a remake of a 1978 movie of the same name. Kind of corny, I thought, but it did feature a pretty big role for Summer Glau.
She played Lindsey, the normal sister. Two rival sororities duel for her sister, who is a witch.
I liked Summer in Firefly, but watching this movie I realized that she can really act!

I didn't even know it was on, but I hope she starts to get more roles. Not only is she a good actress, she's really cute

Didn't see the movie, but she's been in the past couple episodes of The Unit. She's the (somewhat odd) wife of a former soldier.

My wife stayed up watching it at random and recognized Summer Glau right off. She looked quite good in make up TBH.
I didn't much care for the show, my wife likes stupid shows like that and I ended up reading A Case of Need by Crichton while I waited for her to finish watching it.
I'm amazed by how much I forget the cool little tid bits of information that Crichton inserts in all his books.

Huh, I think I watched the old version many, many years ago at my Grandmother's house once. It gave me nightmares. Weird that they'd remake that movie.

I'm considering expending effort to watch this movie just for Summer's sake. She is truly awesome.
So...*derails thread*

Really? If this were true, I may have to forgive my parents for the atrocious hyphenated name they stuck me and my brother with. My mom is a doctor, and she kept her name and wanted to be represented in us kids...but the resulting combination is almost invariably mispronounced, and the most common mispronounciation is a phrase akin to "hide the pickle". Sigh.

I never heard that... I know several women doctors who changed their names when they got married. I don't believe it. It might be harder, maaaaaybe.

If it's anything like other professional licensing schemes, they merely have to notify the licensing authority.
For example, if I change my name, I have to notify the state bas and the state Supreme Court.
The reason we have professional licensing is, at least in part, accountability. We want the clients/patients of professionals to be able to identify them to the licensing authority.

Thought I should clarify something "A Case of Need" was written just before Roe V Wade took place. In fact the book is about the vague law structure that dealt with abortion back then. Its quite possible and in light of some of your comments that this law has been changed. Or allowances have been made for doctors. I am quite certain Michael Crichton was not being inaccurate or dishonest as he himself is a doctor.

She also has had some guest spots on the Unit. She is the wife of a guy who used to be in the unit, but now works for a private 'security' firm.
