I just saw that NY Times Select is free this week. Thought some of you would want to know.

Just means that a lot of articles of the type that are currently free will soon be shifted over to subscribers only.

Actually I think it means that a) they want more traffic to their paid section and are offering free access to build up interest, the way cable companies (and, last week, Howard Stern) have, and b) I can't see it as coincidence that they opened access to their most powerful columnists the week of the election.
