So I went ice skating with some friends last night and got some pretty good video footage. I even fell on purpose for the camera and screwed up my knee. One of my hobbies is to set video to music and I'm pretty good at it. But, one of my friends requested that I set this video to happy music, since I have a habit of making everything depressing or introspective. Of all the ones, she wants this one to be happy! It has to do with cold! Cold is depressing, not happy! And I don't want it to be Christmassy either.

So I ask you, infallible Hatrack, are there any happy cold songs that would lend themselves to a video?

Something off Björk's Vespertine album perhaps? Maybe "Aurora" or "Pagan Poetry." I don't know if they're happy, like [Big Grin] happy, but, I think they're cold and could be good video material.

I should mention that I'd also prefer something upbeat. There's a lot of smiling and laughing and funny/embarassing dance moves in the video.

Reel Big Fish - Beer

[Wink] That's just the song I'm listening to right now but it's very upbeat and happy.

Edit: Actually a really good one IMO is "The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony". That seems like it would fit pretty good.

"Livin' in the sunlight lovin' in the moonlight" - Tiny Tim

It really doesn't get anymore upbeat, and it's got all those peaks and troughs that help when setting clips to music.

What program do you do your editing with?

For this I'm going to use a program called Video Explosion Deluxe. This is mostly just splicing the clips together, no big effects or anything. When I want to do something serious I use Adobe After Effects Pro 6.0. Niiice program, but quite complex. I'm sure I'm not using it to it's full capacity.

I'll check out those songs. I was going through what I had on my computer and found a Phantom of the Opera song ... /Ent'racte. I assume it's the intermission, since it's a just-music mix of all the songs. I like it a lot though. Has some potential. We'll see. Maybe I'll post the finished product on YouTube and ya'll can critique it.

Yeah, definitely didn't realize the song was looping and watched the Viking kittens 3 times. [Razz]

There is something so terribly wrong and, yet, facinating about kittens and Led Zeppelin.

I sang some of that for my last jury! The last song in the cycle, "Der Leiermann", is probably the "coldest" song of all time. Listen to the Fischer-Dieskau recording (he's the best at singing Schubert imo)

This is a good cold song, but I'm not sure if you'd count it as a happy one. If you are looking for something more contemporary, there is this song by Jewel.

How is your knee doing today, anyway?
