wow, awesome. I just watched this last night and it made me think of Hatrack because someone just recommended the book to me recently in a thread.

Strider - the entire text of the book will soon be available at our website www.flatlandthefilm.com as soon as the html page gets added. It is a fun read considering the topic!

In Cosmos, Carl Sagan used flatland to illustrate what the 4th dimension would look like. I think this is a way that both dreams and the supernatural can be explained. Imagine you were a flatlander on a table. If a line was drawn on the table, you wouldn't be able to cross it, because you can't go over it, because there is no over or under, up or down. If someone touched the table in front of you, it would look like somthing just appeared right in front of you. If that person put on more pressure with his finger, the thing that appeared in fron of you would grow larger. The finger could slide over that line, and it would look like that shapeshifting thing went straight through a wall.
Now this is what ghosts do. Ufos, perhaps, the way they do things that physics wouldn't allow. But a more practical application for this mind excercise is in the understanding of dreams. What if during our dreams our consciousness is entering a higher dimension, like the flatlander does. This would explain why sometimes things happen in our dreams that make perfect sense to us while we are dreaming, but when we wake up, we can't comprehend them at all. You try to explain it but there is no way.
It's not "scientific," but existence, particularly quantum physics, starts to make a lot more sense. Also, if you are religious and you take this into account, it really opens up your understanding of God and Satan, angels and demons, Heaven and Hell.

We sent OSC and Kathy Kidd copies of the film last week. I hope they will enjoy it as much as our reviewers.
