Making good use of our time, a friend and I played the Which is Worse? game.

It's simple enough.
One person asks a question. Which is worse, X or Z? The other person chooses one then asks their own question. Rinse and repeat.

Which is worse?
Going to jail for a crime I didn't commit.
Knowing a friend is in jail for something that I committed.

Knowing a friend is in jail for something that I committed.

I get really guilty, plus, as long as I was at a minimum security prison, I think I wouldn't mind it too bad. And in the first case, things can only improve, while in th second case you'll always be worrying about someone finding out.

Which is worse?
Being buried alive.
Being locked in a freezer.
(Both cases, no one knows, although they might eventually figure it out. Maybe.)

Being locked in a freezer, maybe there's something in there you can use to get out or a safety lock or something.

Which is worse?
Starving to death
Resorting to cannibalism

Starving to death, hands down, assuming I'm only eating people who happened to die, and not resorting to killing them myself. Otherwise, swap my answer.

Which is worse -- eating a bowl of worms or eating a bowl of hair?

Worms. You can ball the hair up, but worms, they squirm and gooze when you chomp down.

Which is worse?
A bad senior picture in your yearbook.
A bad driver's license picture.

Bad senior yearbook. You're supposed to look bad on your license, or it will be suspected of being fake.

Which is worse -- knowing how you'll die, or knowing when?

I might be weird, in that I'd like to know both pieces of information. That being said, I think it'd be worse to only know how, 'cause if it's something semi-common like a car accident, you'll be worried whenever you get in a car.

Which is worse?
Having the water stop working in your house for a week.
Having the electricity stop working in your house for a week.

Heh. The worst is living in my house and having the electricity go out, like happened in December, because then you don't have electricity or water.

That's not a real answer though. Carry on.

Having the electricity stop would be worse, simply because of all of the food in the freezer and refrigerator that would spoil.

Which is worse?
Breaking up with someone.
Being broken up with.

Being broken up with.

The actual act of breaking up can be harsh, but afterwards you probably won't feel the effects nearly as much as the person who just got dumped.

Getting an A that you cheated for. Sure, it sucks to get an F, but at least you got it honestly. An A means nothing if you didn't earn it. (Yes, I even believed that when I was in school.)

Which is worse?

Being stuck on a desert island with no other humans for company and no hope of rescue or escape, but enough coconuts to feed you for years.

I'm a loner. I'd much prefer the solitary island. And to answer RunningBear's, it'd depend on the cost/pain of getting the hair removed. If it's not too high, I'd go with the hair removel + wig. Not sure what to do about eyebrows & eyelashes, though.

What's worse?
Getting frost bite on any two limbs (your choice!), to the extent you have to amputate.
Getting burns over 50% of your visible body, with the accompanying scars.

Losing your movie library. If you lose your music library, your roommate/friend/SO probably has music you like and you can listen to that until you rebuild yours (not pirating, borrowing).

Which is worse:

Finishing your favorite steak at your favorite restaurant and finding a bandaid under the last bite?

or

Getting stuck in morning traffic in the middle of a bridge immediately after finishing a large cup of coffee and a bran muffin?

(I think I've heard that somewhere...)

Finishing your favorite steak. From long car rides as a child, I've learned to hold it with the best of 'em. (TMI?)

Tha former happened to my father once, my mother always comes to the airport three months before the flight. He brought my sister's ID, so he went home and came back on time.

Which is worse?

(1) Copying off your best friend on an exam and realising too late you copied their name off too,

OR

Copying my friends name, because not only am I a cheat, but a really bad one.

Also, because the second one is pretty much impossible, at least for what I think of as "fully gay". How could you not find out you're not attracted to the opposite sex at all even while making babies with your spouse?

If they don't function and are a source of pain, why would you possibly *want* to keep them? Having them is definitely worse in that scenario.

Definitely keeping them. At least without them, you could get some prosthetics and regain some mobility. With them you're just in pain and they're just sort of dead weight.

Hopefully, if the injury is bad enough to lose the legs, but not bad enough that there's a question of whether or not they can be kept, you could keep most of the leg or at least one below the knee.

Hell. At least in Hades, you get to see some interesting mythology going on around you. Hell is just endless torment and pain. No thanks.

Which is worse:

Yes. Though it would be a really hard decision. Who knows what kind of miracle medical technologies could be invented just a few years down the road that could lead to a full recovery of my legs? It'd be a gamble, but I'd probably go with amputation.

Porter, defintely. If there was no chance of regaining mobility I wouldn't give it a second thought. What would be the advantage in keeping them?

Primal, note that I specified Hel, not Hell.

I'd say that being flung into the pit would be worse than dying in space. You're dying either way, and at least in space the view would be interesting. Plus, everybody dies alone.

Good point (though we ended up in the same spot). With that in mind I guess it would depend on why the legs weren't functional and how well I was able to handle the level of pain they were inflicting on me.

What about you, porter?

Ebola would be worse for me. Both are incredibly painful, so I don't think I could differentiate there, but the Black Plague only lasted four to seven days, as opposed to seven to fourteen days for Ebola. If I'm gonna die horribly either way, lets try to make it quick.

If you were alone in the woods and a tree fell on your legs and you couldn't get it off, which would be worse...

waiting for help to come the next morning and probably bleeding to death in the meantime,

or cutting your legs off with the Swiss Army knife in your pocket and dragging yourself to safety?

I would rather wait and risk it. I don't see why you would need such drastic measures. Besides, cutting off both legs would probably kill you before you could drag yourself anywhere useful - what with the blood loss and shock and what not.

The previous ones about amputation though, there's always the risk of phantom pain, and that's not all that easy to cure either.

Which is worse?
Having a booger on your nose and not finding out about it until later.
Having a large, green hunk of food stuck in your front teeth and not seeing it till later.

Actually, a typo was a fairly reasonable assumption. I agree with you that Hades would be the better choice. The whole coldness thing, along with the frothy mugs of goat urine, don't make Hel sound like a particularly appealing place to spend eternity.

I feel like somehow that phrase is self-contradictory. If you have a course, isn't that an option? As in, the option is between following that course, or remaining inactive?
