Sometimes you have to use restraint with foster kids who are out of control. And I mean really out of control, like total meltdown, but most foster parents are trained to do that.

I was trying to be careful in what I said and not over-generallize. In retrospect, I probably left some important details out of my earlier posts.

When are we going to get to the point where accurate information about abuse becomes mainstream? I am still reading Why Does He Do that and it's making me furious in light of some friends I have. In one part the writer said that Freud buckled under the pressure of his peers retracting his these women are freaking out because they were abused theory and changed it to the Electra and Oedipus complex! Something that has been a plague on society for over a hundred years because you'll get all of these idiots thinking that a child can seduce an adult and that if a woman has been abused it's because she's hysterical and insane and the abuser is a perfectly good person who would neeeeeever do such a horrible thing. It makes me so MAD! Especially when you have children growing up into adults with all sorts of problems because they never were addressed when they were younger. These myths have got to go, especially the whole, children are resilient theory. It's just not true. Trauma can effect a child even before they have a memory of it.
