My (girlfriend--->fiance--->wife) and I have been going to the city (New York) for the last five years.

The mainstay activities we do every year (in no particular order) are going to see the tree at Rockefeller, seeing some of the department window displays, going to some nice place in Little Italy for dinner, and eating some hotdogs or pretzels from a sidewalk vendor.

Past activities have included: FAO Schwartz, Strawberry Fields, Empire State Building, Serendipity III, and South Street Seaport, and sometimes Times Square.

We wanted to go to the Radio City Music Show for the last two years, but have waited too long to book each time.

I believe we are going on the first Saturday in December. We live down the Jersey Shore, so we leave sometime mid-morning and get there around lunchtime. We stay until around 8 or so, and then get home around 10ish.

Anybody have any interesting or exciting excurions that we could explore? New York has to be crazy enough to where we would be able to do something different every year.

Thank you for all suggestions!

New York City is soooo huge. I would suggest simple sight seeing. There is so much beauty in the architecture, however, you'll be spotted quickly as a tourist while looking up. I'm sure you know that. I would also recommend a trip to the Statue of Liberty. The museum underneath is a sight to behold. Also, catch a show while you're there.....like Beauty and the Beast. That's the only one I can recommend since that's the only one I've seen. Not to mention going to Chinatown to find some amazing bargains. You're Christmas shopping could be done there alone, just be careful about knockoffs. [Smile]

Nor am I really. I just happend to stop in and see the amazing things that could be done with bikes. It's worth a look while sight seeing even if you don't eat there. They have an American eagle made out of motorcycle parts.

I just wish I knew, and got a picture of, the building I saw that had a bunch of skeleton soldiers crawling up it. NYC is so amazing. I gotta go back someday....the farthest I've made it is Jersey to visit some friends.

I'm from New Jersey, too. Exit 9 on the Turnpike. Whereabouts are you from?

My sister has lived in Brooklyn and Manhattan on and off for years, and I've never been there. I always knew I would go, but now it's looking like that will be far off.

Get in line early for a window table to watch the sun set at "The View" lounge/restaurant at the Marriot Marquis in Times Square. It revolves.
