I really need to get back to civilization. I just got my spring calendar from U of Nevada R. Nestled among all the goodies is "University Bassoon Ensemble and dancers" presenting a Rock-n-Roll Retrospective. How special is that? It's on a Tuesday night and two and a half hour drive is just a little far for a mid-week treat. I love the desert. But!

The real University of Nevada is in Reno. I'm absolutly nowhere in the worlds largest Ammo Depot, Hawthorne. There are actually two bassoonists here. But, we are the only ones in 17 counties.

I've been to Hawthorne twice to visit my wife's family. Based on the size of the town, you probably know them. [Wink] They're currently in Mina (which is definitely more nowhere than Hawthorne) to be close to Lou's mother.

Yes, Daughter #3 had dinner last week with one of their granddaughters, an old high school chum, who probably lives close to where you do.

I walked out of the office thinking of the same joke, AT, and was going to post it when I got home. I am starting to wonder what all of this means.

What it means is that the Great American Desert has very few people living in it. A Scouting friend of my wife, from another state, was here several years ago doing a National Guard summer camp. He was an artillery officer, and there is a range at NAS Fallon that is large enough to shoot the big guns safely. On his middle weekend, he decided to try to find her. He drove to the Mineral County Sheriff's office to see if they had a phone book or address book to help him in his search. Rocky (the Sheriff) dispached a blue and white to escort him to our front door step. I have actually recieved mail addressed to (name) Nevada. Anyway, you have cute kids. I saw pictures.
