So, DC is expecting our first heatwave this weekend, with temperatures expected to get to 88 both Saturday & Sunday. We have two dogs who would love to splash around in a kiddie pool - especially the Alaskan Malamute - but I can't find any hard plastic kiddie pools at the local stores, or even online.

Suggestions?

That should cover what you need.

No - those are all soft plastic wading pools. My malamute, Panda, can shred our carpet down to the baseboards in less than 10 seconds when he gets excited - a soft plastic pool would be gone in less time.

They sell them at the big grocery stores here (granted this is Phoenix). Have you tried stores like Walmart/Target? Hardware stores? Another option is to try looking at a feed/tack store for a plastic or metal trough that is similar in size (though it will be a little more expensive than a $20 plastic kiddie pool, it will last longer too).

I've looked at all the local stores that I remember selling them - the grocery stores, big stores like Walmart/Kmart/Target, and the drugstores. Haven't checked out the hardware stores or looked at feed stores, though.

If you get *really* desperate, hardware stores or contractor supply places probably sell landscaping pond basins that would work the same way.

I usually see them at Big Lots, Albertson's, and Toys R Us.

They had the hard kind at a Wal-Mart in Florida last month.

Ours only lasted around a month with our Airedale though, she'd distroy it some way or another. Three a year was typical.

They sell them, we use them at the dog park for the dogs. [Big Grin] Wal-mart had them last week.

Well - glad to hear that they still exist. [Smile] Perhaps they're just not out yet in the DC region.
