Given the large amounts of money being dumped into producing absolute crap... we really shouldn't have to pick between good science fiction like Terminator and Dollhouse. Where on earth are the rich geek benefactors of silicon valley who know doubt watch both? Can't they offer to buy/produce the shows to keep them alive and pick up the slack from the morons currently producing television shows?

Rich geek benefactors get that way by being, among other things, smart businessmen, and no matter how much it makes me sad to say it, the fact is both shows had terrible ratings. Proper advertisement and scheduling might have fixed that problem but that's a much broader issue than taking on a single show. Bill Gates has better things to do with his money than purchase the entirety of Fox Network so that he can make sure sci-fi shows get better marketing.

I saw the movie a few months ago when it was in the second-run theaters.

You know those movies that are so thrilling and captivating that they engage your suspension of belief and allow you to overlook the plot holes?

T:S wasn't that movie.

[SPOILERS, if they can still be called so at that point]

I mean, even putting aside the "Terminators can snap your neck like a twig" thing, how long has Skynet been planning this thing? Why not flood the base with toxic gas the moment both targets are inside it? For that matter, if Skynet actually understands the significance of Kyle Reese, why bother using him as bait at all? Just kill him, and in theory, Connor will cease to exist.

(Why have human-accessible controls inside the Skynet base at all?)

Between T3 and T:S, they've also made it abundantly clear that Skynet has access to nuclear weapons or at least materials that could be used as same. And the stupid humans have been kind enough to pinpoint their base by surrounding it with magnetic mines. Why hasn't Skynet nuked that mother until it glows? The waters just outside the base area are awash with evil aquatic robots; surely Skynet has gotten some clue by now? They don't even have to use what T:S has strongly implied is a vastly superior air force to drop it- one dumb suicide robot ought to do the trick. It's not like they'd have to get that close.

We also have strong examples of Away Team and Gotham City Syndrome cliches: A rescue effort has to involve every single important member of the resistance, no matter how vulnerable? The "good guys" don't have enough manpower to mount a serious counteraction to their threat, but they turn up in ridiculous numbers to pursue the hero?

ADD: Oh, and aside from the fact that a battlefield medic is suddenly able to perform a heart transplant... And no one else is jumping forward to offer to sacrifice their lives to save either the spiritual leader of the resistance of the incredibly useful friendly cyborg who has shown the mysterious ability to interface with Skynet technology... Weren't we at pains to point out earlier that even freakin' antibiotics are rare enough in this mileu to be valuable and noteworthy?

This script needed to be released to a room full of snarky fourteen-year-olds before they considered greenlighting it.
[/SPOILERS]

I kind've like the franchise, but boy, they could have done so much better.
