"What is it called when you have an irrational fear of hermit crabs? My sister used to stick her hermit crabs in my face and tell them to eat me when I was like 3...*shivers* they creep me out."
Why would you think that the fear is irrational? Remember, hermit crabs are omnivorous. Once they grow too large to fit into sea shells.....well, it ain't as if a hermit crab will wait for the occupant of their newly chosen home to vacate voluntarily.

I think they are so cute... They remind me of wall e or something. They have sweet faces.
Hmm. That second one could be a coconut crab. I love them. They grow too big for shells then they become MASSIVE and gigantic. I think land hermit crabs don't get bigger than soft balls.

Many crabs taste good, king crab, snow crab, Vancouver crab. Even those tiny small blue crabs are good if you cook them properly. Oh, and soft shell crab ... mmm ...

Me, too! To eat and to have as pets. We're omni...something or other.
That looks like my deceased hermit crab Shelly, may she (?) rest in peace (or in Hermie's tummy, as the case may be).

Huh. I wonder why I've never seen that in a supermarket.
Edit to add: looks like people have already eaten them too much and Canada may not allow their import. oh well.

I still keep reading the title of this thread as "I hate Carbs" Still the coconut crab is a bit unnerving. I'd be very confused, and probably pretty scared, if I saw a crab that size on the side of a trash can or something. Then again I live in Indiana so it would be really weird here.
