Monsters Inc is in my opinion one of the best movies ever made. I've loved watching it every time. But the ending was so tidy I'm not sure how a sequel would work. The bittersweet ending of the first one could be ruined if they brought back Boo. Brenda Chapman and "Brave" sound like an intriguing combination.

My favorite part of that press release is how there will finally be a Pixar movie with a girl as the main character. Yay!

I guess bittersweet isn't the best word, it was bitter then sweet, in that they say goodbye and there is every indication they will never see each other again, and then some time later they do.
But even then, to me, it wasn't exactly the same. I wasn't under the impression she could visit him in his world, or that he could spend alot of time in hers.

I'm sure a sequel could be about anything as long as it had the same main monsters and still had them making kids laugh. There has to be more than one story you could tell in that setting.

Come on... that means three out of four of Pixar's next films will be sequels!
Granted, Pixar has a 100% track record for making sequels that live up to and even surpass the original, but that's only based on one film.
Of course, Pixar also has a 100% track record of making good movies despite any doubts I had when first hearing about the movie, so perhaps I needn't worry too much.

Challenge accepted:
Sully, being the one who discovered the Laugh energy, is promoted to head of Monsters Inc. There his success pulls him away from his friend Mike. Mike is the most successful laugh inducer, and enjoys the lime light. However he soon discovers that not all is well at Monsters Inc. Moorehouse escapes from prison with the help of a returned Randall. Together they are gathering energy from kids via a TV Remote Laughter Pipeline.
The energy and laughter is leaving Boo's world, leaving our world a laugh-less barren sad place. As she has grown older she also faces the age where she will stop believing in Sully, and soon they will be parted for ever. As our worlds laugh energy vanishes, it draws Boo farther and farther away from Sully.
Mike, with the help of Roz, must convince Sully to save both Monsters Inc, and Boo's world by destroying the Laugh TV.
Yet Laugh TV is the only thing giving enough energy to allow the older Boo to still see and remember Sully. If he destroys it he'll lose her for ever.
It all ends when it is realized that adults can see the monsters too. The whole idea of age making them unable to see the monsters is a myth.
The Laugh TV is destroyed. The bad guys are captured by Roz and Mike and Sully become best friends again.

Well, I must admit that my 16 year old daughter loved the line first. Hearing her repeat it when she's playing with our dogs is probably what I fell in love with.
I enjoy movie lines more when they come out of my kids mouths!
