This was written for a flash challenge at Liberty Hall. I'm not going to post all thirteen lines since the story is only 1,000 words, but I'm looking for readers for the whole thing. Thanks!
quote:Oil on Canvas
Her touch is ochre yellow. I tingle, feeling her brush slowly stroking me. I love her. Lover. Her every movement changes me; my surface cries out a reflection of her own desires.
Her touch is vermillion. I long for the brush to move again, the strokes to wet me. Each time I dry a different creation, more whole.

It's good, but I'm always a little scared of inanimate POV's. Probably works well in a flash, though.

Well, okay, you can read it. I mean, how could I resist a plea such as 'poetry within a story'?

It was good then, and I'm sure it'll be even better now. you should submit it to Shimmer, I think.

Beth, I don't want to make you feel bad, though. I will probably broaden my market submissions once I've had a few pro sales.
But for me the first two years are pretty important, because I'd like to be eligible for the Campbell new writer award, which considers the first two years.
And, I'm so strapped financially that I'd rather make $100 than $10 from the same sale, so to be honest a large factor is purely mercenary. I view my writing as a business, and I want to make good business decisions.
And actually, a third reason is that I'm only eligible for WotF until I've had three sales. So I want to carefully choose who has my first three sales, before burning up my eligibility.
But I really like what small press has to offer, and I want to support them as much as I can. As soon as I can scrape together the cash, I plan to subscribe to Shimmer. I would ideally like to subscribe to all the good markets, but that will take finances I don't yet have, so I have to juggle. I already have five subscriptions, though, so I'm working on it! And you're next on the list.
I really hope Shimmer succeeds as a market. I know it deserves to.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound cranky; I'm not at all! I just know that you have particular objectives and target particular markets - so suggesting that you submit to us is approximately like suggesting that I submit to F&SF - it just isn't going to happen.
and thanks for keeping us on the list. We appreciate it!
