This story was workshopped here on Hatrack under the name "Eggs die all the time" (or something similar)

My sincere thanks to everyone who pitched in on the first thirteen and to those who read the whole story.

Thanks!

I'll let you know when it's published.

I haven't been nominated for the Campbell and, although I'm still eligible, I doubt I'll ever make the ballot.

It looks like "Prayers for an Egg" will come out in the next issue of Asimov's.

I've got my copy of the issue with your story right now. It was in my P. O. box this morning when I stopped by. (Sometimes it pays to check your mail on Sundays...)

I thought it was pretty good...reflecting an extremely alien background and culture and people, yet allowing the reader to get involved in the lives of the characters and caring about them...I liked the way some things were worked out but others were left unexplained and unexplored.

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I had loads of fun writing it.

Thanks again to everyone on Hatrack who critiqued the story in its early stages.
