I'm sure many of you, like me, have read and benefited from OSC's Characters and Viewpoint. There are several other books in the same Elements of Fiction Writing Series. Are any of them worthwhile? Anyone care to offer a recommendation or review?

Thanks,

Brian

Another book in the series is Jack M. Bickham's Scene and Structure. It's a very useful book for writing a modern action novel and I give it my highest recommendation.

On the books in the series I’ve read (Other than Character and Viewpoint, which is wonderful):

I really loved Nancy Kress’s Beginnings, Middles, and Ends. Some good ideas for how to make your way through each part of the story.

Description by Jack M. Bickham was interesting, if not eye opening for me..

I didn’t much care for Plot. It didn’t really say anything.

Dialog was utterly atrocious. It’s written entirely in dialog which, while it would seem like a good idea, actually makes the examples impossible to follow.
