One of the finest collections of American Fantasy shorts available--"The American Fantasy Tradition." This book is a must-have collection of the classics (the early American stuff) and the masters (Card, Bradbury, Ellison, etc, etc, etc.)

And excellent non-fiction book I read recently was "Custer and Crazy Horse" by Stephen Ambrose. Very compelling read on the similarities between these two 'ultimate enemies.'

My sentimental favorite book of all time, however, is Dandelion Wine, by Ray Bradbury.

    OSC's Saints.

    Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover Series and Fall of Atlantis

    Anne McCaffery's Pern Series

    Christine Feehan's Dark Series

    And Earthsea, LotR, and Narnia

As a historian, I'll mention a few history books:

Gregory Hicks "History of the Soviet Union"

and anything by Pierre Burton.

Clavell's "Shogun"

R. A. Salvatore's early stuff

"Dune" by Herbert (ONLY book 1)

The "Myst" books by Miller were also good stuff.
