Do you ever get that sinking plummeting feeling that pulls downward in to a empty spiral. That one feeling that something will inevitably go wrong. It’s that slipping, sliding deeper and deeper into a never ending abyss that engulfed everything till you feel like you can no longer get out. I have been there this week.

I have poor eyesight. I can thank my parents for that, as they too are as blind as bats. I broke my glasses, while fumbling for them on the edge of the sink after getting out of the shower. The lens popped out and I couldn’t find it.

My wife had to come rescue me form my own cursing and banging around. The lens was never found. So I am stuck wearing cellophane disks over my eyes that itch and burn all day.

Then at 3 am in the morning the other night my little sister’s friend calls me telling me that some guy left a bag of porn on her doorstep. This isn’t the first time this guy has done this, but it is the first time he has been caught peeping in her window. He was flashing a light in her window peering through the blinds. So now I’m in a panic and blind, and my wife and little boy are asleep. I throw on those evil contacts in to my eyes and drive about half way there before she calls me and says everything is all right the police are there and are going to leave a car there for the next couple of nights.

Ok so I go home and sleep till one in the afternoon, and I wake up to a sore throat and ear-ache. Great now I’m blind and dizzy. I power through the day at work and get home at 2:00 am and crash. Doo-to-DOOO it’s a day off. I plan to write as much as I can, my ear still hurt but my throat was ok. I began writing. 15000 words starting point, I get to 25000 words, wrote a saucy-steamy scene, that my wife really liked but I’ll prolly never publish it /blush.

So I log on to my computer today and POP…SIZZLE. Foul acrid smoke filled the room. My nose is burning now cant smell anything but burnt circuit board, I’m dizzy, and blind.

I lost the 10000 words that I wrote. No worries though I have a friend who works as a tech and recovers data all the time. He said all my data looks recoverable.

And tonight after using the potty my 3 year old flushed and we hear. "Uh-ho...Momma? Daddy? My poopoo is coming back up." Trust me you never want to here ‘Uh-ho’ and ‘poopoo’ in the same statement form a 3 year old. So the toilet is stopped up, and it’s bad. So we had a plumber come out and snake it for us.

Well guess what, we found my lens.

I just can’t wait for something else. Wheeee.

Sorry for the rant, I just felt the need to share. Hope you enjoyed the ramblings or a dizzy, blind, olfactory impaired, person.

I took it with a grain of salt, and it was fun writing about it. I'm glad that I could give you a smile.

Seriously, I've had days like that. Thursday I woke up to a flat tire. The spare was underinflated. Went to the gas station to fill it with air and after taking my 75 cents (what happened to free air?) the stupid thing didn't work. I went to another gas station and after filling my tire, I broke my shoelace. Then, I got to work and realized I left my badge at home.

Things will get better.

And remember the rule: Copy lost in cyberspace is always better than anything you write to replace it.

It sounds like an average week in my house. Even when something good happens (I passed my drivers theory test on Wednesday) something has to come along and kick all the joy out of it. Ah well, things can only get better.

Hope you have a better week next week, Alye!

You rasied a smile here anyway, thanks!

You really made me smile, and I hope you have a better week. I just can't help but think this might make a good story. It might be too cliched, but what if something kicked off these series of events and something had to be don't to keep everyday from being like that? Just a though.

I had a character that went through a day like that, he was attempting to quit smoking and it seemed like the entire world was colluding to foil his attempt to go cold turkey. Turns out he was supposed to die of lung cancer and by quitting smoking he altered the timeline that lead to the destruction of reality and desperate travellers from the future were doing everything they could to make him start smoking again.

Maybe there were things you weren't supposed to see on that day and reality came together to hinder your vision :-)

I recently read one of those "household tips" that may be of use here. If you squirt some liquid dish detergent into a plugged toilet, then wait about 15 minutes, you should be able to flush your problems all away.

I tried it the last time our toilet got plugged up, and it worked great. I'm thinking of getting little squirt bottles of liquid dish detergent for both bathrooms now.

What a day! I'm sorry. I hope your friend can do your data recovery. A trick I've used when I'm too tired to do much in the way of backing up is to just mail a copy of my work in progress to myself...making sure to pick one of the email accounts that leaves the email on the server (rather than download to my potentially flaky local drive!)

Meanwhile, I hope the creep bugging your little sister gets the frigging message. Tell her to call 911 the instant anything close to that happens again (and tell her friend/roommate too!) The 911 operators are trained to distinguish between real emergencies and not, and are able to dispatch police to check up on things in that kind of situation. She shouldn't have to feel alone in fighting against a creep. What a nightmare for her. I hope this is all that's needed to shock some sense into the idiot boy.

Lastly, I hope tomorrow is a better day. It pretty much has to be, doesn't it?

I had a day start with my changing a flat tire at work and end with my father undergoing heart surgery---the events are connected. (Don't remember what happened at work---guess events drove it out of my mind.)

Back in the days before Wordperfect, I had a word processor that would say, "Due to lack of memory, the file you are currently working on has been deleted. This is due to your error, and is not the fault of this word processor."

I'm amazed I never took an ax to the damn machine.

For the second time in three days my house is surrounded by six inches of sewer water. Not nice! The weather here has been atrocious and it drains into my garden from both nieghbours. The water company says I am not priority.

Hope the rest of the week will be better!

Well this week was much better. I have hit 35000 words on my novel. wheeee. And the previous lost data was recovered, I still don't know if it will make it to my final work. I dont ususaly write erotic scenes, but I felt this one really tied up a subplot firmly. It's out of place, if it even does make it. Im going to have to write much more sexual tention between those two befor I can really add it.

Wow, darklight. You live in England, right? What you're describing sounds like parts of Texas right now.

Commiserations!

Edited to add: I'm glad to hear things are going better, Alye.
