Hey, I have a quick question for anyone who knows a bit about the proper format for submitting a novel. Do I start a new page with each new chapter? Also, if anyone knows a great book that tells/shows the proper format for a novel let me know. Thanks P.S. Sorry, I wish I could bring up some thought provoking question that would lead to a rousing debate, but alas. Maybe next time.

Yes, I believe you do. As far as format, "The Writer's Market" has a pretty good guide/format for preparing submissions. Many publishers won't want an entire novel - they want to see the first three chapters and an outline of the rest of the chapters. Hope this helps.

Each chapter starts a new page. Margins should ideally be 3/4 to 1 inch all the way around. Lines should be double spaced. You should have a header on each page with your name, title and page number. You should also have a cover page with your name, title and word count centered. You should have "The End" printed at the end. Ideally, you can put a blank page at the end of the story to keep the last page "clean." Don't staple or bind the document although you can use an elastic to hold it together.

Check the agent/publishing house guidelines as well. They may insist on more or less.
